Hyatt’s Alila brand has officially opened its first property in Latin America. Alila Mayakoba, a 182-room luxury resort set within the gated Mayakoba community on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, welcomed its first guests in recent weeks, giving the region one of its most high-end new openings of 2026.

The resort occupies a stretch of white-sand coastline along the Caribbean, surrounded by mangroves and tropical jungle. Rooms and suites feature private plunge pools, outdoor rain showers, and direct lagoon or ocean views. The property also includes multiple dining outlets, a wellness-focused spa, and a dive center.

Alila has built its reputation on understated, nature-driven luxury at properties across Asia and the Indian Ocean. The Mayakoba opening represents its first foray into the Americas and signals Hyatt’s ambitions to grow the brand well beyond its original base.

The move adds yet another premium name to the Mayakoba complex, which already hosts properties from Rosewood, Fairmont, and Banyan Tree. For Hyatt, it’s a complement to the company’s growing all-inclusive footprint through brands like Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara, and Hyatt Vivid.

The Riviera Maya continues to attract major hotel investment in 2026, with Park Hyatt also planning its first-ever all-inclusive resort in the corridor later this year. Between new builds and multi-million-dollar renovations at existing properties, the stretch of coastline south of Cancún is shaping up as one of the most competitive luxury hotel markets in the hemisphere.
