This Hotel Giant Just Set a Pipeline Record — but Its All-Inclusive Resorts Hit a Snag

Hyatt's second quarter was strong almost everywhere. One corner of its Caribbean and Mexico business slipped, and the reasons say a lot about the region right now.

Hyatt reported second quarter 2026 results on July 30, and the headline numbers were the kind investors like. System-wide revenue per available room climbed 5.9 percent year over year, powered by luxury and upper-upscale demand and a summer of World Cup group business. The company's development pipeline hit a record 154,000 rooms, up 10 percent from a year earlier, and World of Hyatt loyalty membership reached 69 million, a 17 percent jump.

But one part of the business moved the other way. Net Package RevPAR at Hyatt's comparable system-wide all-inclusive resorts fell 1.2 percent versus the same quarter of 2025 — a rare soft spot in an otherwise upbeat report. Hyatt tied the dip to security concerns in Mexico and reduced airlift to certain destinations, both of which weighed on package pricing at beach resorts.

The detail matters because all-inclusive has become one of Hyatt's biggest growth engines. Its Inclusive Collection now spans well over 100 resorts across brands including Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara, Dreams and Secrets, with a heavy concentration in Cancun, the Riviera Maya and Punta Cana. When package rates at those resorts stall, it shows up quickly.

Hyatt struck a confident tone about the rest of the year. It now expects full-year system-wide RevPAR growth of 3.5 to 4.5 percent and net rooms growth of roughly 6 percent, with more than half of its planned openings landing in the fourth quarter. Executives pointed to "resilient demand from premium travelers" as the through-line — a reminder that even as the top of the market booms, all-inclusive resorts remain sensitive to airlift and headlines in the destinations they depend on.
