Palace Resorts is weeks away from opening the most ambitious project in its history: Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana, a 2,171-room all-inclusive resort backed by more than $1.5 billion in investment. When it opens this spring, it will instantly become the largest resort in the Dominican Republic.

The property is a dramatic departure from the low-rise, mid-size resorts that define Punta Cana's hotel corridor. Two 18-story oceanfront towers — the tallest resort buildings in the region — will house rooms where 66% offer direct ocean views, the highest ratio of any resort in the country's history.

The amenities list reads like a small city. Guests will have access to 19 restaurants, eight bars, eight snack venues, nine outdoor pools, a water park, entertainment centers, and the largest spa in the Dominican Republic. Golfers get an 18-hole course designed by Greg Norman using his Eco Signature approach, which integrates the course into the surrounding landscape rather than bulldozing it.

That environmental angle extends to the broader property. The development preserved over 228,000 square meters of natural vegetation, including 400 meters of protected mangrove forest — a notable commitment for a project this large.

For travelers familiar with Palace Resorts' existing portfolio — including Moon Palace Cancun and Moon Palace The Grand Cancun — the Punta Cana property represents a significant step up in scale. It also marks the brand's first foray into the Dominican Republic, a market already crowded with all-inclusive competition from chains like Hyatt Ziva, Bahia Principe, and Sandals.
