At JAPEX this month, Jamaica's tourism officials said more than 11,000 hotel rooms are due back between 2026 and 2027 after Hurricane Melissa. The December wave includes the former Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach and Grand Decameron Montego Beach, now branded Muthu Crystal Cove and Muthu Diamond Lagoon on the island's western coast.
How the Decameron handoff happened
MGM Muthu, an India-owned group headquartered in Portugal, took over both Montego Bay Decameron properties earlier this year after already acquiring Decameron Club Caribbean in Runaway Bay. Decameron told partners the Jamaican hotels would move to Muthu ownership and management, ending the Grand Decameron chapter at those two beachfront sites while Muthu builds a larger Jamaica footprint.
Muthu's own site still lists both hotels as "Opening Soon," so December is a government-tracked target rather than a live booking calendar with full room maps.
