One of Cancun's Most Famous Adults-Only Resorts Finally Has a Reopening Date — After 13 Months Dark

After multiple delays, the adults-only Hyatt Zilara Cancun is now accepting bookings starting May 1, capping a full gut renovation that closed the resort for more than a year.

Hyatt Zilara Cancun will reopen on May 1, ending a full-property closure that ran more than 13 months and pushed back multiple times. The adults-only all-inclusive at the northern tip of Cancun's Hotel Zone originally aimed for a December 2025 relaunch, then February, then April — each delay nudging the scope of the renovation further.

What started as a refresh ended up as a gut job. The property has been stripped down to the shell across guest rooms, public spaces and food and beverage venues, with the Hyatt Inclusive Collection team using the extended timeline to reimagine the layout and upgrade the tech. Guests holding reservations for February, March or April have been rebooked or offered alternate properties in the portfolio.

The location is the draw. The resort sits on a quiet stretch of beach at Punta Cancun, where the hotel zone curves toward Isla Mujeres and the water goes from Caribbean-blue to a deeper, clearer turquoise. Its family sister concept, Hyatt Ziva, continues to operate a few minutes away, and guests at either property get exchange privileges with the other.

The May 1 relaunch arrives at an interesting moment for Cancun. The destination has seen a wave of capacity come back online this spring, including the $50 million reopening of Paradisus Cancún and the April debut of Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman drawing regional attention. A 500-room Grand Hyatt Cancún in Puerto Cancún is lined up for July 1, and a new St. Regis is scheduled later this summer.

For Mexico's most established resort market, Hyatt Zilara's return is less a headline and more a reset — one of the Hotel Zone's most recognizable adults-only properties is back in inventory just in time for summer booking season.
