Mexico's Biggest Hotel Company Just Announced Five New Luxury Resorts — Including One on a Tiny Island Near Cancun
Posadas is expanding into Isla Mujeres and the Riviera Maya with new luxury and all-inclusive properties, part of a broader push into high-end Caribbean travel.
Fiesta Americana parent company Posadas just announced plans for five new luxury-focused hotels and resorts across Mexico, including a beachfront property on Isla Mujeres and an all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya.
The biggest addition is Izla by Fiesta Americana Isla Mujeres, a 122-room resort positioned on the beachfront with private balconies in every room. The property will focus on wellness, dining, and quieter experiences — a deliberate contrast to the sprawling mega-resorts across the water in Cancun's Hotel Zone.
Isla Mujeres has been gaining momentum as a luxury alternative to Cancun for travelers who want turquoise Caribbean water without the high-rise density. The Posadas investment signals that major hotel operators now see the small island as a serious growth market, not just a day-trip destination.
The expansion also includes Grand Fiesta Americana Riviera Maya, an all-inclusive resort scheduled to open in November that will put Posadas in direct competition with brands like Hyatt Inclusive Collection, Secrets Resorts, and Dreams Resorts in one of Mexico's most crowded resort corridors.
Posadas is also launching Devossion by Live Aqua, its first adults-only all-inclusive concept built around lifestyle travel and curated wellness experiences. The company recently opened Sunvivia by Fiesta Americana in Mazatlan with a family-travel focus.
Together, the five new properties will increase Posadas' room inventory by roughly 7 percent. The company says it plans to roll out 25 new guest experiences across its portfolio in the coming months, including culinary programming and cultural tours.
The push comes as luxury resort development accelerates across the Mexican Caribbean, with international brands racing to lock down beachfront in Cancun, Costa Mujeres, Isla Mujeres, and the Riviera Maya.
