Mexico's Largest Hotel Company Just Revealed 40 New Projects — and the Caribbean Is Its Biggest Target
Grupo Posadas is launching 27 new builds and 13 renovations across Mexico and the Caribbean, with flagship all-inclusive openings in Riviera Maya and Punta Cana.
Grupo Posadas, the company behind Fiesta Americana and Live Aqua, has announced a sweeping expansion plan that includes 40 new projects across 2025 and 2026. The portfolio, which currently spans 198 hotels and nearly 30,000 rooms, is being reshaped with 27 new builds and 13 major renovations — and the Caribbean is the primary growth target.
Two flagship openings anchor the push. Grand Fiesta Americana Riviera Cancún will bring 600 keys to the Riviera Maya coastline, while Live Aqua Riviera Cancún will add another 452 keys nearby. Both are expected to open in 2026, giving Posadas a significantly larger footprint in Mexico's most competitive resort corridor.
The company is also expanding beyond its traditional Mexican stronghold. Fiesta Americana Funeeq Punta Cana is part of the pipeline, bringing the brand to the Dominican Republic's busiest resort market. Posadas has previously signaled interest in Jamaica and Aruba as future Caribbean targets.
Another notable addition is Sunvivia Mazatlán by Fiesta Americana, a 177-suite residential-style resort spread across four oceanfront towers with multiple pools, diverse dining, meeting spaces, and a full spa. The concept reflects a growing industry trend toward longer-stay, apartment-style accommodations within resort settings.
The scale of the expansion is striking for a company that has historically been overshadowed internationally by chains like Meliá and Hyatt. With 40 projects in a two-year window, Posadas is making an aggressive bid to become a major player beyond Mexico's borders.
