One of Cancun's Most Popular All-Inclusives Has Pushed Its Reopening Again — Here's the New Date
Hyatt Zilara Cancun's extensive renovation has been delayed multiple times, with the adults-only resort now targeting a May 2026 return.
Hyatt Zilara Cancun, the adults-only all-inclusive that has been a fixture of Cancun's Hotel Zone for years, will not reopen on its most recently promised date. The resort's top-to-bottom renovation, which closed the property in 2025, was originally set for a February 1, 2026, comeback. That date slipped, and Hyatt Zilara is now accepting reservations starting May 1, 2026.
The delays stem from the scope of the work. Every one of the resort's 310 rooms has been gutted and redesigned with modern furnishings, upgraded technology, and spa-inspired bathrooms. The oceanfront pool area and the Zen Spa have also been overhauled. Hyatt is clearly aiming for a relaunch that justifies the wait — and likely higher nightly rates.
For guests who had bookings during the gap period, Hyatt has been relocating reservations to sister properties within the Hyatt Inclusive Collection, including Hyatt Ziva Cancun across the road. But the repeated schedule changes have frustrated loyal guests who specifically chose Zilara for its adults-only atmosphere and beachfront location.
When it does reopen, the refreshed Zilara will compete in an increasingly crowded Cancun luxury market. A new Grand Hyatt is scheduled to open nearby on July 1, and the Secrets brand just finished its own renovation at Secrets Playa Mujeres. The pressure is on to deliver something worth the extended wait.
