Rating7.7Villa Rolandi's activity program reflects the property's intimate scale: curated, wellness-focused, and complemented by the island of Isla Mujeres itself. Complimentary non-motorized water sports, yoga, the Thalasso hydrotherapy circuit, and select island excursions are included. Isla Mujeres — with its turtle sanctuary, ancient Maya temple at Punta Sur, and colorful downtown — is the resort's extended backyard.
The primary freshwater infinity pool flanked by palms and wooden sun decks with blue-cushioned loungers. The pool edge creates the illusion of merging with the Caribbean Sea beyond, with the Cancun Hotel Zone visible across the channel. Drink and food service from Casa Rolandi available poolside. The most-used pool for sunbathing and sunset watching.
A second freshwater infinity pool at a slightly elevated position, offering a different vantage point of the oceanfront. Quieter than the main pool; good for guests who want water but not company. With the total guest count rarely above 70, neither pool feels crowded.
A therapeutic saltwater pool using actual Caribbean seawater — mineral-rich and distinct from a standard chlorinated pool in both feel and purpose. Part of the Thalasso Spa hydrotherapy circuit; adjacent steam room completes the sequence. Access is complimentary for all guests, no spa booking required. Oceanfront position. One of very few genuine Thalassotherapy pools in the region.
A compact stretch of white sand on the Caribbean Sea directly in front of the resort. Crystal-clear turquoise water, wooden privacy screens, and blue-cushioned loungers. The water is calm on most days and suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and paddleboarding. Rocky sections border the beach on both sides — this is characteristic of the Sac Bajo peninsula and not fixable. The beach works well for a quiet hour in the water; it is not suited to long walks or large group beach days. Kayaks and paddleboards launch from here.
A signature evening experience aboard the resort's private 40-foot catamaran Cocoon IV, cruising the waters between Isla Mujeres and Cancun at sunset. Subject to weather and availability; limited capacity means it can book up. One of the most-discussed included perks, and worth prioritizing early in the stay.
Complimentary sea kayaks for exploring the calm Caribbean waters off the Sac Bajo peninsula. Equipment provided at the beach. The sheltered position between the Caribbean and the lagoon makes conditions manageable for most ability levels.
Stand-up paddleboards available for guests in the sheltered waters near the resort's private beach. Calm conditions most mornings; afternoons can get windier on the Caribbean-facing side.
Complimentary equipment provided. The waters around Isla Mujeres are part of a marine protected area with coral formations and tropical fish. Bring reef-safe sunscreen — regular sunscreen is restricted in the protected zone.
Guided yoga and meditation classes in oceanfront or garden settings. Sound healing meditation sessions offered on select days. Open to all levels; the oceanfront setting makes these worth attending even for guests who do not practice regularly.
Pool-based fitness classes in one of the resort's infinity pools, led by an instructor. A low-impact option well-suited to the warm Caribbean climate.
Air-conditioned gym with treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, weight equipment, and benches. Open daily. The small size reflects the property scale — sufficient for a daily routine, not a serious training program.
Hands-on culinary sessions with resort chefs covering local Mexican and Italian dishes. Offered on select days; advance registration recommended through the concierge. Particularly relevant given the quality of the culinary program here.
Curated tasting sessions from the resort's extensive cellar, paired with light bites. Le Metissage's wine collection is the resort's strongest asset after its kitchens — tastings give access to the selection outside of formal dinner service.
Guided bicycle excursion to the ancient Maya temple ruins at Punta Sur, the southern tip of Isla Mujeres, with scenic stops along the island's eastern Caribbean coast. One of the more culturally substantive included activities.
Complimentary wellness demonstration covering basic massage and relaxation techniques. A light introduction to the spa's approach; serves as a preview of the full treatment menu.
The Thalasso Spa's oceanfront saltwater pool and adjacent steam room — part of the hydrotherapy circuit using therapeutic seawater. Open to all guests at no charge, no appointment required. Views of the Caribbean from the water. One of the few genuine Thalassotherapy setups available in the Caribbean or Mexico.
Isla Mujeres offers serious dive sites including the MUSA Underwater Museum of Art — a collection of over 500 submerged sculptures — and seasonal whale shark encounters from June through September. Arranged through the concierge with certified operators at additional cost. Worth planning in advance if this is a priority.
Fishing excursions in the waters around Isla Mujeres, known for marlin, sailfish, and dorado. Arranged through the concierge at extra cost.
Tee times at Playa Mujeres Golf Club, a Greg Norman-designed course on the mainland. Arranged through the concierge with transportation included in the arrangement. Extra charge applies.
Traditional Mexican silversmithing techniques in a hands-on workshop with a local artisan. One of the more culturally specific activities available; not offered daily.
Isla Mujeres' sea turtle sanctuary and conservation center, home to several endangered species. A short golf cart ride from the resort. Particularly interesting for guests with children, though the resort itself is not designed for family travel.
Rent a golf cart to cover Isla Mujeres independently — the colorful downtown, Punta Sur cliffs, Playa Norte beach, and local restaurants are all within a 20-minute drive. Playa Norte consistently ranks among the best beaches in the Caribbean. The island rewards exploration beyond the resort walls.
