No-reservation à la carte dining at 11 restaurants is the headline difference at Hyatt Vivid Grand Island — a policy rare enough in Cancun that it genuinely changes how your vacation feels. Other adults-only all-inclusives on the Hotel Zone strip make you book dinner time slots at check-in or wrestle with an app; here you walk up to Aglio for Italian or Dalia for Mexican whenever you feel like it. That flexibility, combined with a 24-hour food operation (Coco Café in the lobby runs all night), makes this one of the more relaxed eating experiences on the strip.
This is the right resort for adults who want a lively but not raucous environment — the activity calendar runs to pottery, macrame, cacao ceremonies, and paddleboard yoga, which signals the crowd this place is after. If you want foam parties and late-night club energy, this is not your hotel. If you want a well-designed, high-rise property with genuine culinary variety and a curated activities program, Vivid Grand Island delivers. Families, children, and anyone who needs a direct beach walk from their room should look elsewhere.
The main limitation to understand before booking: the resort sits on a lagoon-facing plot in Cancun's Hotel Zone, not directly on the Caribbean. You get bay views and lagoon-facing sunsets, but the actual beach — the Ennea Beach Club at Playa Delfines — is a 10-minute shuttle ride away. The shuttle runs every 15 to 20 minutes from 9 AM to 6 PM and is complimentary, but it means you cannot simply walk out of your room and put your feet in the sand. Guests who book expecting a beachfront experience regularly flag this in reviews. Additionally, the rooftop infinity pool — marketed as Cancun's longest at 295 feet — is reserved exclusively for Vantage Club guests. Non-Vantage guests get access to the Cobalt bar up there but not the pool itself, which is a meaningful distinction given how prominently the rooftop pool features in the resort's marketing.
The resort opened in April 2024 with 400 suites across a high-rise tower in a gated section of the Hotel Zone, about 15 minutes and 10 km from Cancun International Airport. The all-inclusive rate covers unlimited à la carte dining, top-shelf spirits, non-motorized water sports at the beach club, and most daily activities. Vantage Club rooms, which add rooftop pool access, a private lounge, a pillow menu, soaking tubs, and in-room premium spirit dispensers, run meaningfully higher. A full 26,000-square-foot spa shared with the adjacent Dreams Grand Island was under development at opening — current spa operations use eight treatment rooms on-site, with all treatments at additional cost.
For comparison shopping: Moon Palace is larger and has direct beach access but far more chaotic. Le Blanc Cancun is quieter and more polished but twice the price. Vivid Grand Island slots in as a strong mid-luxury adults-only option for guests who prioritize food variety and a creative activity program over direct ocean access.
