Extensive Water Sports
An impressive array of included water sports, including motorized options like water skiing and wakeboarding, is a significant highlight, offering endless adventure.
Romantic Ambiance
The intimate, laid-back, and romantic atmosphere, coupled with the unique 'barefoot elegance' vibe, creates a perfect setting for couples and honeymooners.
Airport Transfer
The lengthy 75-90 minute drive from Montego Bay airport is a recurring concern, potentially inconvenient for some guests, especially after a long flight.
Beach Vendors
Due to its location on a public beach, guests may occasionally encounter local vendors, which some find bothersome during their relaxation.
Room Variation
While many rooms are updated, certain older 'Luxury' category rooms may not feel as modern as newer accommodations, leading to varied guest feedback on room quality.
Pool Size
Some guests note that the resort's pools are relatively smaller compared to those at other larger Sandals properties, which might influence those seeking grander pool areas.

Sandals Negril sits closer to the water's edge than any other property on Seven Mile Beach — that's not marketing language, it's a physical fact that explains why the resort has an unusually intimate relationship with the ocean even by Negril standards. The sunset views here are among the best in Jamaica because of this positioning, and they explain why the property attracts a high proportion of honeymooners and couples celebrating anniversaries.
This is also one of the more activity-complete Sandals properties. Waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, Hobie Cats, paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing, glass-bottom boat tours, kneeboarding, and PADI scuba diving for certified divers are all included in the package. Most all-inclusives cap their water sports at non-motorized activities; Negril's motorized program is a genuine differentiator and adds real monetary value over a week-long stay. The 75–90 minute transfer from Sangster International Airport (MBJ) is the tradeoff — approximately 45 miles of mostly good but occasionally winding west-coast road.
Two honest limitations to know before booking: first, Seven Mile Beach is a public beach, and persistent local vendors do approach guests near the property's beach boundary — this is a known and consistent feature of the Negril coastline, not occasional. Second, the resort is adjacent to Hedonism II (clothing-optional), and while the properties are separate, the beach abuts. This doesn't affect most guests' experience but is worth knowing.
Practical context: 226 rooms across three service tiers (Luxury, Club Sandals, Butler Elite), 8 specialty restaurants, 6 pools including a Crystal Lagoon and a SkyPool. Price tier is mid-to-upper in the Sandals portfolio. Environmental certifications (EarthCheck, Green Globe) are a feature the resort actively maintains. Peak season (December–April) requires early booking for butler-tier categories.
Dry season runs January through April. Negril's flat terrain and western exposure mean consistent afternoon sunshine and excellent conditions for water sports most of the year. Hurricane season (June–November) brings elevated risk; Negril on Jamaica's western tip is more exposed than some other Caribbean destinations.
