Rating8.0
Rating8.0The activity program covers both ends of the age spectrum more thoroughly than most Caribbean all-inclusives. The Imagine Kids Club is supervised and runs from infancy (with a dedicated baby area) through age 11, with a separate teen gaming room for older kids. On the adult side, watersports (kayaks, snorkeling, sailing) are walk-in at the beach sports hut. The signature activities that require advance sign-up are scuba diving instruction and private yacht excursions — both booked through guest services. Evening entertainment shows are included but change nightly.
Large central pool that functions as the social hub — organized water polo, aerobics, and music throughout the day. Gets crowded from 10 AM to 3 PM during peak season. If you want quiet, this is not your pool.
Second general-access pool with more relaxed energy than the main pool. Still family-accessible. A better option for guests who want to swim laps without navigating games and activities.
Heated, exclusive to Finest Club guests of all ages. Noticeably quieter than the general pools. Access controlled — you'll need your Club wristband or key card.
Adults-only (18+) pool for Excellence Club guests. The most serene pool at the resort. Cabanas available. This pool alone is a significant reason to book Excellence Club if you're traveling as a couple.
Shallow toddler pool adjacent to the Imagine Kids Club. Supervised. Depth appropriate for children under 4 — actual wading depth, not a decorative splash pad.
Features water games and a 'Blob' dome launcher — kids jump onto the inflated dome and launch each other into the pool. Popular with 6-12 year olds. Gets crowded during school holiday weeks.
Gentle slides and water features scaled for young children. Adjacent to but separate from the big-kid water park. Supervised as part of the Imagine Kids Club program.
The Aqua Bar is built into a dedicated pool — not the main pool. In-water bar stools, standard tropical drink menu. Open 9 AM to 6 PM. Gets busy from 11 AM onward.
Junior Suites with Private Pool, Excellence Club suites, and rooftop suites all include private plunge pools on their terraces. These are genuinely private — walled off from neighboring units — not shared semi-private pools.
Uvero Alto is a less developed stretch of coast than Bavaro, which means fewer other resorts on the same beach. The tradeoff is stronger wave action — reef nearby creates conditions better suited to surfing and windsurfing than casual swimming. The beach itself is wide and golden with ample chairs. On calm-sea days it's excellent; on rough days, staff will advise guests to stay out of the water. Check conditions each morning at the beach sports desk. Excellence Club guests have a designated private section with reserved chairs.
Walk-up at the beach sports area. Equipment is provided. Best in the morning when the ocean is calmer — afternoon winds pick up on this exposed stretch of coast.
Equipment provided at the beach sports hut. The reef near the beach creates interesting snorkeling but also the stronger currents. Ask staff about current conditions before heading out.
Hobie cats available with introductory instruction for beginners. Walk-up, no pre-booking needed. Better on lower-wind mornings.
Scheduled morning classes in the main pool. Walk-in. Water aerobics is consistently praised in guest reviews as the most fun group activity.
Organized at the main pool, usually mid-morning. Walk-in and informal.
Modern gym with cardio, strength, functional room with TRX and punching bags. Open to all guests, complimentary.
Scheduled morning sessions. Walk-in and complimentary. Beach yoga is offered on selected mornings — check the daily activity sheet at check-in.
Courts on Uvero Alto beach. Organized matches typically late morning.
Courts available; book at guest services to guarantee time. Rackets provided.
Dedicated court added relatively recently. Walk-up; equipment available from the sports desk.
Structured supervised program with dedicated staff for babies, toddlers, and children up to 11. Splash pools, a water park with slides, crafts, themed parties. The baby/toddler area is genuinely infant-appropriate — not just a corner of a playroom. This is the primary reason to choose this resort for families with young children.
Childcare during meal times for potty-trained children 3 and up. Allows parents to eat in peace at specialty restaurants. Check availability and hours with the Kids Club on arrival.
Dedicated space within the Imagine Club framework with consoles and gaming setup. More effective than most resort teen programs, which tend to be empty. Located separately from the younger kids' area.
Performances at the main theater vary — circus acts, Latin dance, live bands. Quality is inconsistent night to night, but the circus show and Saturday Latin night are the two most praised. Shows typically start at 9:30 PM, which is late for families with young children.
Throughout the day at pool areas and bars. Saxophone players in the morning and a live band in the evening are most frequently mentioned in positive reviews.
Spanish lessons, salsa dancing, and cooking demonstrations on rotating days. Check the weekly activity calendar at check-in.
Rotating creative workshops. Best for rainy days. Look for the schedule at the activities desk near the main pool.
Extra cost; organized through guest services. The reef near Uvero Alto offers decent diving but conditions depend on swell. More reliable than some Caribbean locations, less dramatic than others.
Extra cost; booked through tour desk. Half-day trips available. Mahi-mahi and wahoo are common catches off this stretch of coast.
Extra cost. A genuinely different experience from the group catamaran tours most resorts offer. Book at least two days in advance.
Extra cost. One of the best day excursions in the DR — natural pools at Palmilla Beach and the scenic coastline are worth it. Book through the tour desk, not through random vendors on the beach.
Extra cost. Hoyo Azul cenote is the highlight — clear freshwater pool inside a cliff. The zip-lining and caves round out a full-day visit. Good for families with older kids (8+).
Extra cost. The highlight is the cenote stop and Macao Beach. Dusty and bumpy — wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
Extra cost; available January through March when humpback whales migrate through DR waters. One of the most unusual excursions available from any Punta Cana resort — book early in season.
