Club Med
Club Med Pragelato Sestriere has a genuinely unusual origin: the buildings were constructed as the athletes' village for the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, then converted and reopened as a Club Med in 2022 after comprehensive renovation. A further 2022/23 expansion added 17 chalets and 105 rooms, bringing total capacity to 388. The design — small wooden chalets arranged around a central fountain to evoke an Italian alpine village — holds up better than most purpose-built ski accommodation. Ski-in/ski-out access to Via Lattea runs through a cable car from the boot room, with 400 km of marked runs across the domain.
What stands out beyond the ski access is the dining setup. La Trattoria serves wood-fired pizza and handmade pasta in its own chalet (reservation required). La Tana runs fondue and pierrade for alpine dinners (reservation required). Casa Mollino, at 2,300m in Sauze d'Oulx, is the on-mountain lunch restaurant reserved for Club Med guests and included in the package — Monday to Friday during winter. This is a meaningful operational detail: on-mountain lunch at a private Club Med facility without paying resort prices is a genuine cost advantage.
Honest drawbacks: vegetarian and vegan guests consistently report limited options — the food skews heavily toward meat, charcuterie, and cheese. Evening entertainment gets mixed reviews, with some returning Club Med guests finding it below the standard of other properties. The gondola to the ski domain can cause delays on busy mornings. Ski and snowboard equipment rental is not included — budget for this separately.
Practically: Turin-Caselle Airport (TRN) is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes away. Petit Club (2–3 years) costs extra. The Finnish sauna and steam room are accessible for a small charge or complimentary with any spa treatment. There is no pharmacy on-site — bring essential medications. Ground-floor rooms receive noise from children playing outside; request upper floors for quiet.
