Club Med Magna Marbella reopened in May 2022 after an extensive renovation of the former Hotel Don Miguel, and it's the brand's first Spanish property in over two decades. The 12–14 acres of terraced gardens cascade down the Sierra Blanca hillside, delivering panoramic views of both the mountains behind and the Mediterranean below. That dual outlook — sea and mountain in a single frame from the main pool terrace — is the defining visual of the property, and it's genuinely impressive.
This is primarily a sports resort for families. The 10 tennis courts, 5 padel courts, golf practice facilities (driving range, bunker, putting green), and a full flying trapeze and circus school represent one of the more substantial athletic programs of any Club Med in Europe. Families with kids aged 4 and up who want structured activities, group lessons, and an active holiday will find this compelling. Couples seeking a quiet adults-only retreat should look at Club Med Cap Skirring or similar properties — the focus here is squarely on activity and kids.
The honest drawback is the location. The resort sits in the hills above Marbella, not on the beach. The shoreline is a pleasant 25-minute walk to Playa del Venus and the Paseo Maritimo, but you don't roll out of bed onto sand here. Families who specifically want immediate beach access every morning may find the logistics tiresome. The Zen Pool adults-only area is also seasonal (early April to early November).
Practically: 485–486 rooms across the property, 40–50 minutes from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP). Kids' clubs cover 4 months to 17 years, though Baby Club (4–23 months) and Petit Club (2–3 years) cost extra. The spa by Cinq Mondes has 14 treatment cabins plus a hammam. Five pools on-site including the 900m² main lagoon and a heated indoor/outdoor spa pool. Tierra Gourmet Lounge requires dinner reservations — book them on arrival day.
