High Cleanliness Standards
Rooms and facilities consistently receive high praise for their cleanliness and maintenance, contributing positively to a comfortable guest experience.
Peripheral Location & Transport
The resort's distance from central Marrakech (Medina) is a major concern, requiring reliance on the free shuttle (which needs advance booking) or costly taxis, potentially inconveniencing guests wanting to explore the city frequently.
Inconsistent Food Quality
While breakfast is generally well-received, the overall quality of the buffet, particularly for dinner, is inconsistent and a common complaint, impacting the perceived value of full or half-board plans.
Inflated 5-Star Rating
Many guests feel the resort's 5-star rating is not consistently met across all services and amenities, suggesting an inflated luxury standard compared to the actual guest experience.
Room Quality & Maintenance Issues
Specific room problems, such as small size, problematic furnishings, electrical issues, lack of hot water, or unpleasant smells, are reported by some guests, occasionally requiring room changes despite generally high cleanliness scores.

Barceló Palmeraie Oasis sits in the Palmeraie district north of Marrakech — a palm grove neighborhood that places the resort in a genuinely different environment from the city's riads and medina bustle. Originally built in 1990 and significantly renovated in 2023, the property spreads across 12–17 hectares of landscaped gardens and natural dunes. The architecture draws directly from Moroccan tradition: arabesque motifs, internal courtyards, and warm terracotta tones that actually reflect local style rather than approximating it.
The resort fits guests who want an all-inclusive base near Marrakech without being embedded in the city itself. The Medina is 15–16 km away — roughly a 20-35 minute taxi ride depending on traffic. A complimentary shuttle runs to the city center; without it, taxi costs accumulate quickly. This works well for guests who want one or two day trips to the souks and Jardin Majorelle, then return to the calm of the grounds. It's wrong for guests who want to wander out for dinner or evening entertainment in the Medina regularly — the remote location makes that impractical.
The food situation deserves honest context: the all-inclusive program covers L'Oliveraie buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The à la carte Moroccan/Lebanese restaurant Le Mezze costs extra (though All Inclusive+ plan guests get 15% off). Guest reviews on food quality are genuinely mixed — some trips land excellent; others don't. The hammam and Nuxe spa carry better reviews than the dining program.
Practically: 300 rooms across Deluxe (280 sq ft), Premium (344 sq ft), Family Room (350–400 sq ft), and Junior Suite (474 sq ft) categories. As Marrakech is inland, there's no beach. Four pools replace that function — a main family pool, an adults-only Zen Pool (16+), a heated pool for cooler months, and a children's pool. Mornings are the best time to book excursions through reception — the complimentary city shuttle fills its spots early.
Best months are March–May and September–November when temperatures are 20–30°C — comfortable enough for pool days and the Marrakech Medina without the July–August heat that pushes midday temperatures above 40°C.
