The water park is the booking argument. AluaSun Marbella Park has six water slides, a dedicated splash zone for children, and a separate adults-only (+16) relaxation pool with hydro-massage — all on-site and included in the all-inclusive rate. For families where the children's agenda drives the holiday, that combination is meaningful and not universal at this price point on the Costa del Sol.
The hotel itself is a 4-star property built around 1997, last significantly renovated in the mid-2000s. Guest reviews are honest about the wear: rooms have been modernized but the wider property shows age in the common areas, and cleaning standards in rooms draw recurring criticism. The buffet food (Terra restaurant) is widely described as repetitive and below category expectations. The plastic cup exchange system for drinks — carry a cup, swap it for a fresh pour — is an operational policy that guests consistently dislike. These aren't minor quibbles; they come up across recent reviews in volume.
What works alongside the water park: the entertainment team gets strong marks across reviews, particularly for the children's program (Astro Club, ages 4-12) and evening shows. The staff is consistently noted as friendly and professional. Room sizes are adequate — Double XS starts at 242 sq ft, which is tight; the Family room at 318 sq ft is more workable for four. Sea view rooms at the top of the range add a meaningful outlook.
There's no direct beach. Elviria Beach and Cabopino Beach are both reachable via the hotel's free shuttle. Elviria is a fine beach — long, sandy, Blue Flag — but the shuttle dependence means the beach is a planned excursion rather than a spontaneous ten-minute walk. Families who want to split time between a hotel water park and beach days will find the arrangement workable. Those who want the beach immediately outside the door should look at properties further east.
Malaga Airport is 41-43 km away, roughly 28-30 minutes by car. That's a manageable transfer from one of Spain's major aviation hubs. The location within Marbella is inland from the seafront, in a green garden setting — quiet, but without coastal views from most of the property.
