If you want an all-inclusive on Grand Bahama Island, this is the only option. That's not a sales pitch — it's a logistical fact that shapes who books Viva Fortuna Beach and what they should expect. The lack of competition means the resort doesn't need to be exceptional to fill; it needs to be good enough for the people who specifically want the Bahamas without Nassau's higher prices and busier scene.
What the resort does well: its 1,200-foot private beach on the south shore of Grand Bahama is legitimately beautiful, with calm, clear water that consistently earns the most enthusiastic guest feedback. The activity program is unusually broad for a property this size — trapeze lessons, pickleball, archery, and introductory diving lessons are not standard inclusions at 3-to-3.5-star all-inclusives. The activity team is specifically praised in reviews as energetic and engaged.
The honest issue is the rooms. Multiple reviews describe bathrooms with mold on curtains, slow drains, and dated finishes that the $4 million 2016 restoration didn't fully address. If your room has problems, the property has a pattern of accommodating transfer requests — ask at the front desk rather than suffering through it.
Practically: 275 rooms in Victorian-style bungalows, all with private balconies or terraces. Grand Bahama International Airport is 15 minutes away. Four specialty restaurants (all reservation-only for dinner), one international buffet. Airport transport runs approximately $40 round-trip and can be arranged through the resort.
