Baby Beach on Aruba's southeastern tip is one of the few genuinely calm natural swimming spots in the southern Caribbean — a shallow, reef-protected lagoon where the water rarely exceeds waist depth and wave action is almost nonexistent. Secrets Baby Beach opened phases in March/June 2025 specifically to capitalize on that access. The resort itself doesn't sit directly on the lagoon — there's a 5-minute walk across a service road — but complimentary chairs, snorkel equipment, and non-alcoholic beverages are provided at the beach. This is the trade-off: excellent water in an unusual location versus the more convenient direct-beachfront access of properties on Aruba's western strip.
The resort works well for couples who prioritize a modern, design-forward property over a long-established one. The aesthetic is nature-inspired with contemporary architecture — a deliberate departure from the older all-inclusive mold. The main pool area with DJ and swim-up bar is genuinely lively. Ground-level suites with private pools and swim-out access are a strong product. This is not the right choice for guests who want to walk to a bustling tourist strip — San Nicolas is charming but small, and the main Palm Beach hotel zone is 30+ minutes away.
Two meaningful drawbacks worth knowing before booking: first, the resort cannot serve alcoholic drinks on the public Baby Beach, meaning you switch to water and sodas once you walk over. Second, soundproofing in rooms is poor — guests near the main plaza area report hearing evening entertainment clearly from their suites. The wind is also persistent on Aruba's eastern coast — more so than the calm western shore — which affects both pool and beach comfort.
Practical context: 304 suites in multiple categories. Unlimited-Luxury covers all dining, top-shelf spirits, 24-hour room service, non-motorized water sports, fitness center, and daily activities. Spa covers 3,200 square feet with 16 planned treatment rooms and a full hydrotherapy circuit. Airport distance: 21 km from Queen Beatrix International (AUA), approximately 30 minutes — longer than west-side Aruba properties. Pre-arrange airport transfers; ridesharing is not widely available on the island.
Being a 2025 opening, best-time-to-visit data is limited. Aruba sits outside the hurricane belt and gets approximately 300 days of sun per year — there is no clear high/low season based on weather. The trade winds blow consistently year-round, which keeps temperatures moderate but makes the eastern coast windier than the west.
