Lanzarote's Playa de los Pocillos is a 3-kilometer Blue Flag beach on the island's southeastern coast — wide, sheltered, and a short walk from Puerto del Carmen's main strip. Hotel Riu Paraiso Lanzarote sits right there, 30 meters from the sand, and its 2021 complete renovation gives the property a feel significantly fresher than its 1988 founding date would suggest. The interior is clean, contemporary, and laid out around a six-pool complex.
This resort is built for families and does that job efficiently. The RiuLand Kids' Club runs six days a week with two age brackets (4–7 and 8–12), there are two heated children's pools, and the main buffet has the chicken nuggets-and-chips section any parent will recognize. Couples without children can absolutely stay here — the adult pool areas are distinct and the two specialty restaurants offer a decent evening out — but if you're seeking a quiet, couples-focused escape, a smaller hotel elsewhere in Puerto del Carmen will serve better.
The primary drawback is sunbed competition. Playa de los Pocillos sun loungers are managed by external providers, not the resort, so the beach setup isn't as controlled as a private resort beach. The pool decks have their own chair-claiming issue — guests reserve loungers at 7am with towels, a practice management acknowledges but hasn't solved.
Practically: 597 rooms across nine categories from 237 sq ft single-sea-view rooms to 500 sq ft two-bedroom family configurations. Lanzarote Airport is 4–8 km away — 10 minutes by taxi, making this one of the most accessible resort transfers in the Canaries. All-inclusive covers meals, drinks, and activities; the Yashima Asian and Yaiza Canarian specialty restaurants require reservations. Price tier is mid-range for Canary Islands all-inclusive.
