Riu Palace Paradise Island holds a unique position in the Bahamas all-inclusive market: it's the only adults-only all-inclusive property on Paradise Island. That exclusivity matters in a destination where most properties are either traditional European Plan (pay per item) or family-focused. The 2017 renovation that converted it from mixed to adults-only also reset the room and amenity quality, giving it a physical condition advantage over non-renovated Bahamian competitors.
The Atlantis adjacency is either a feature or an irrelevance depending on your travel style. The casino, Aquaventure water park, and Atlantis resort complex are a five-minute walk from the Riu Palace entrance. You can walk over for a blackjack session or an Aquaventure day pass without a transfer. If you have no interest in casino culture, the proximity means nothing in practical terms — the Riu property is self-contained.
Cabbage Beach is the physical asset that makes the location genuinely good. It's one of the wider, calmer beaches on Paradise Island — sugar-white sand with clear turquoise water and hammocks reserved for resort guests. Unlike Nassau's public beaches, Cabbage Beach is relatively uncrowded because most of it is resort-adjacent. The trade-off is that you're 19–21 km from the airport, which requires a 22–27 minute transfer — manageable.
The honest drawback is the pricing. The Bahamas is an expensive destination by Caribbean standards, and the all-inclusive model doesn't eliminate premium costs — it just shifts them to the room rate. Guests who are used to Mexico or Dominican Republic pricing will find this resort noticeably more expensive for comparable amenity levels. The Renova Spa has only four treatment rooms — modest for a 379-room property.
