Resort Management / Riu Hotels & Resorts
The Le Morne location is the defining fact about this property. The resort sits at the base of Le Morne Brabant — a 556-meter basalt monolith that's been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. Most guests don't come to Mauritius specifically for a resort; they come for the island's combination of lagoon beaches, Indian Ocean scenery, and cultural mix. The Riu Palace Mauritius positions itself inside that landscape rather than as a substitute for it.
This is a rebuilt property, not a renovation. The previous Riu Le Morne and Riu Creole were torn down and replaced with the Riu Palace Mauritius and the adjacent Riu Turquoise in 2024. What you're booking is physically new — rooms, kitchens, pool infrastructure, all installed fresh. That matters when comparing to competitors that last renovated in 2015 or earlier. The 500-meter white sand beach along Le Morne peninsula is the other irreplaceable asset.
The guests this works for: adult couples or pairs who want a luxury all-inclusive with genuine natural scenery, rather than a manufactured resort environment. The adults-only (18+) policy is strict. The sustainability angle is real — extensive solar panels are a feature, not marketing copy. What it doesn't offer: children's facilities (there are none, by design), a proximity to shopping or nightlife (Le Morne is remote), or the social scene of a larger resort complex. The nearest significant town is a 54–56 minute drive.
Practically: 310 rooms. Three pools including a main pool, swim-up bar pool, and Elite Club private pool. Renova Spa at neighboring Riu Turquoise (short walk). Gym at Riu Turquoise. Non-motorized water sports, yoga, aqua aerobics, billiards, table tennis, beach volleyball, introductory scuba lesson in pool — all included. 56 km from MRU airport.
