Riu Costa del Sol's most practical differentiator is its 24-hour all-inclusive program combined with a heated indoor pool — rare among Torremolinos properties — which means the property works just as well in November as in August. The resort was assembled from two former Riu hotels (Belplaya and Costa Lago), reopening in April 2017 after a significant renovation that merged and modernized the facilities into a single coherent property.
The primary audience is families with children under 12, and the infrastructure reflects that clearly. A RiuLand kids' club runs for ages 4–12, a dedicated children's pool and Splash park handle water play separately from the adult pools, and babysitting is available for a fee. Couples looking for a boutique, quiet retreat should look at smaller properties elsewhere on the Costa del Sol — at 621 rooms, Riu Costa del Sol operates at resort scale, with the activity levels and crowd density that implies.
The honest drawback: this is a mid-market Torremolinos all-inclusive, not a high-end property. The two specialty restaurants (Italian La Dolce Vita and Andalusian María Sardina) are the most-requested, require reservations, and have a smart-casual dress code — guests who don't book on arrival day often miss out. The main buffet Ajoblanco handles the rest of the week and is functional rather than remarkable.
Practically: 621 rooms across a single beachfront building on the Torremolinos promenade, directly above Playamar Beach. Malaga Airport (AGP) is 4–7.5 km away — a 10–11 minute drive, among the shortest airport transfers of any Riu property. Three outdoor pools (one heated in winter), one heated indoor pool, children's pool, and Splash park. The all-inclusive covers 3 restaurants and 7 bars including 24-hour room service.
Best season is May–October. Torremolinos gets genuine winter visitors due to the mild climate and airport proximity, so this property sees year-round occupancy. The promenade location means Torremolinos town center and its restaurants and bars are walkable — though most guests on the all-inclusive plan stay put.
