World-Class Dining
Seven restaurants deliver genuinely five-star dining within an all-inclusive setting. MICHELIN-starred Cocina de Autor receives universal praise, and guests consistently note that every restaurant exceeds expectations — a rarity for any all-inclusive resort.
Extraordinary Service
With a staff-to-guest ratio approaching 3:1, the level of personalized attention is remarkable. Butler concierges learn preferences quickly, pool staff anticipate needs before being asked, and the overall warmth feels genuine rather than rehearsed.
Luxurious Suites
Starting at 1,081 sq ft with ocean views, jacuzzi tubs, and private terraces, even the entry-level Ambassador suites feel genuinely spacious. Grand Class suites with private plunge pools are frequently cited as worth the upgrade.
Family-Friendly Luxury
One of the few Forbes Five-Star resorts that genuinely caters to families. Kids Club keeps children engaged until 11 PM, baby concierge removes packing stress, and Family Duplex Suites with teepees and popcorn machines delight younger guests.
SE Spa Experience
The seven-step hydrotherapy water journey is a highlight even for experienced spa-goers. The progression from eucalyptus steam to polar plunge to heated stone loungers is expertly curated, and treatment quality matches the Five-Star designation.
Stunning Pool Design
Three cascading infinity pools overlooking the Sea of Cortez provide the visual centerpiece of the resort. The adults-only bottom pool with its dramatic ocean panorama is the most photographed spot on property.
Non-Swimmable Beach
The beach directly in front of the resort has strong undertows and is not safe for swimming — a common reality along the Los Cabos corridor. Guests expecting Caribbean-style beach access should be aware that the pools are the primary water activity.
Premium Price Point
Rates starting around $1,600/night place Grand Velas among the most expensive all-inclusives in Mexico. While the quality justifies the cost for most reviewers, budget-conscious travelers note the significant investment.
Remote Corridor Location
Situated on the Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, the resort requires a taxi ride to reach either town's restaurants, shops, and nightlife.
Peak Season Crowds
During December through March high season, pool loungers — especially around the family pool — can be harder to secure by mid-morning, and restaurant wait times increase at popular venues.
Spa Surcharges
Despite the premium all-inclusive rate, spa treatments and the hydrotherapy experience carry additional charges. Some guests expect these to be included at this price point.

Best Luxury All-Inclusive Resorts
The only all-inclusive resort in the world to simultaneously hold a Forbes Five-Star, AAA Five Diamond, and a Michelin-starred restaurant. Every suite exceeds 1,180 sq ft with ocean views and private terraces — the undisputed global benchmark.
Resort Flock Picks
Grand Velas Los Cabos holds a distinction that has no equivalent in the all-inclusive sector: Forbes Five Stars, AAA Five Diamonds, and a MICHELIN-starred restaurant — Cocina de Autor — all simultaneously, all with the meal included in the all-inclusive rate. Opened December 2016 at Km 17 of the Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, the resort's architecture cascades down from the desert hillside to a golden sand beach, with all 307 suites facing the Sea of Cortez.
Cocina de Autor is the centerpiece. The 8-10 course tasting menu changes with seasons and the culinary team's focus — this isn't a resort restaurant trying to be fine dining, it's fine dining that happens to be included in a resort rate. Adults and guests over 18 only. Families with younger children will need to use the other five restaurants (Frida, Sen Lin, Lucca, Velas 10, Cabrilla) for those evenings, which are also strong options. Azul handles daytime service.
Every suite starts at 1,081 square feet with ocean views, a private terrace with jacuzzi tub, and 24-hour personalized butler concierge service. The three-tier infinity pool system — family pool on top, activity pool in the middle, adults-only pool at the bottom — creates natural separation by guest type. The non-swimmable beach is the consistent limitation of the Los Cabos corridor: strong Pacific undertows make ocean swimming unsafe. The infinity pools are the swimming option.
Practically: 307 suites, rates starting around $1,600 per night in low season and $1,800+ in peak winter months. San Jose del Cabo International Airport is 30-40 minutes away. The price tier makes this one of the most expensive all-inclusive properties in Mexico — the justification is real (MICHELIN star, butler service, Five Diamond standards) but the commitment is substantial.
