The combination of an 18-hole golf course and a Peruvian restaurant at a beach resort in Panama is unusual enough to distinguish Grand Decameron Panama from any other all-inclusive in Central America. Most Panamanian beach resorts are smaller boutique properties without this range of on-site facilities. At 852 rooms, this is the largest all-inclusive in Panama, and the six à la carte specialty restaurants — Peruvian (Cuzco), seafood (El Canal and La Pesca del Día), Panamanian beachfront (El Pilón), Asian (Esquina Asiática), and Mexican (Mezcal) — give it a dining depth that justifies multi-day stays without repetition.
The beach at Playa Blanca (Farallón) is the resort's physical asset: secluded Pacific coast white sand with calm enough water for swimming most days, well away from Panama City's urban sprawl. The resort established in 2001 and renovated in 2020 manages its scale reasonably — with 6 pools (including an adult-only pool and a waterslide pool), 8 bars, and extensive sports facilities, the 852-room size doesn't feel as impersonal as comparable mega-resorts in the Caribbean.
The main practical limitation is transportation. Scarlett Martinez International Airport at Rio Hato is 2 km away — 10 minutes — but it serves mainly domestic flights and charters. Guests flying internationally transit through Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, which is 90 km and roughly 90 minutes away. This makes the resort less convenient for quick weekend trips from the US or Colombia than Caribbean alternatives, and Panama City — an interesting destination in its own right — requires a committed half-day commitment to visit.
The open-air cinema is a genuine differentiator — watching a film on a Pacific coast beach at night is an experience that doesn't exist at most all-inclusives. Three whirlpools, a Kids Club with origami, face painting, and treasure hunts, and a tennis complex (with a multipurpose court) complete the facility picture.
