Spectacular Sunsets
Guests consistently praise the Pacific-facing beach for delivering some of the most stunning sunsets in Costa Rica. The observation pier and beachfront provide unforgettable golden-hour experiences that rank among the property's top draws.
Beautiful Pool Complex
The four-pool system receives strong marks, with the main pool's arched bridge and swim-up bar creating a social hub, while the relaxation pool and adults-only Premium pool offer quieter alternatives for those seeking tranquility.
Friendly, Warm Staff
Despite occasional language barriers, staff across departments receive consistent praise for genuine warmth, helpfulness, and a hospitable Costa Rican attitude that guests describe as making them feel welcome throughout their stay.
Well-Maintained Tropical Grounds
The resort's lush tropical gardens and well-kept grounds are frequently cited as a highlight, creating a pleasant atmosphere for walking between facilities and enhancing the overall vacation experience.
Good Value All-Inclusive
For its price point, guests find the all-inclusive package delivers solid value with four restaurants, seven bars, daily activities, and comprehensive kids programming — particularly appealing for families on a moderate budget.
Inconsistent Food Quality
The Calypso buffet receives mixed reviews, with longer-stay guests noting repetitive menu options and inconsistent food preparation. A la carte restaurants fare better but require advance reservations that fill up quickly.
Beach Not Suitable for Swimming
The dark volcanic sand beach, while beautiful for sunsets and walking, disappoints guests expecting a Caribbean-style swimming beach. Wave conditions and water clarity make it unsuitable for swimming or snorkeling.
Room Condition Varies Widely
With a multi-year renovation underway, room quality varies significantly between renovated Fiesta Double rooms and older unrenovated buildings. Guests in older rooms report dated furnishings, basic decor, and maintenance issues.
Crowded A La Carte Restaurants
The three a la carte restaurants require a minimum 2-night stay and advance reservations that fill up quickly. Guests on shorter stays may not get a reservation, leading to frustration with buffet-only dining.
Long Check-In/Check-Out Lines
Multiple guests report lengthy waits at reception during peak check-in and check-out times, particularly on weekends when the resort operates a day-pass program alongside regular guests.

Fiesta Resort
Fiesta Resort All Inclusive Central Pacific sits on the Pacific coast in El Roble de Puntarenas, roughly 90 minutes west of Juan Santamaria International Airport on Costa Rica's main highway. The drive is straightforward but the time commitment is real — this is not an airport-adjacent property, and guests arriving late or departing early should plan around the transfer. In exchange, the resort sits on one of the Central Pacific's more dramatic coastlines, facing west over open ocean with Pacific sunsets that guests consistently describe as a trip highlight.
The beach here is dark volcanic sand, which is standard for Costa Rica's Pacific coast. It looks different than the white-sand Caribbean beach most travelers picture — more rugged, more dramatic — and the wave conditions make it better suited to walking and watching than to swimming. This is the most important thing to understand before booking: you're coming for sunsets, not snorkeling. The resort's four pools (including an adults-only and a children's section) handle the actual swimming.
The property first opened in 1990, underwent renovation in 2008, and launched a multi-year room modernization in October 2023. The renovated Fiesta Double rooms (Building 1) show the newer standard — eco bath products, stand-up showers, contemporary fixtures. Older room categories may still be awaiting their turn in the renovation cycle. The clientele is predominantly Costa Rican and Latin American, with a secondary mix of Canadians and Americans, which gives the resort a more local atmosphere than Cancun-style properties.
The Premium zone represents a meaningful upgrade within the same property — ocean-view rooms, exclusive pool access, espresso machines, and priority seating at Macarela for breakfast and lunch. For guests who care about room views and quieter pool access, the Premium tier is worth the extra cost. Standard zone rooms vary widely in quality depending on which building and what stage of renovation they're in. The all-inclusive covers all four restaurants (three require reservations for 2-night minimum stay), seven bars, daily activities, kids and teens club programming, and non-motorized beach activities.
