Bungalow Condition (Historical)
Older reviews mentioned bungalows as "old-fashioned and very simple," though resort renovations in 2024 have likely addressed these concerns.

While recent reviews highlight improved multilingual staff communication, historically the club was perceived as primarily French-centric, potentially impacting some non-French speaking guests.
Additional Costs for Premiums
Guests should be aware that services like spa treatments, specific lessons (e.g., kitesurfing), certain excursions, and childcare for infants/toddlers incur extra charges.

At 706 rooms, Djerba La Douce is one of the largest Club Med properties in the Mediterranean and among the few that feel genuinely village-scale. Three zones — the traditional Menzel bungalows, the artistically-colored Calypso Hotel facing the sea, and the Tunisian-themed Aziza Hotel — give the property distinct characters within the same all-inclusive. The resort has less than 20% building coverage across its site, meaning the grounds feel open rather than dense despite the room count.
The catamaran fleet is the clearest operational differentiator. Few Club Med properties have a fleet of this scale, and for guests interested in sailing or learning to sail, it's the main reason to choose Djerba over comparable Mediterranean alternatives. The 1km beach lined with date palms is legitimately long for a resort beach, and the water conditions here are calm enough to use it. Water sports (windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, catamaran) are all included.
The resort is well-calibrated for multi-generational families. Children's programs run from 4 months old — Baby Club Med (extra cost), Petit Club Med (extra cost), Mini Club Med+ (4–10, included), Teens Club Med (11–13, included), and Chill Pass (14–17, included). The depth of family infrastructure is one of the reasons this is among the most-booked Club Med properties for family travel.
Le Calypso became a specialty seafront restaurant in 2024 — reservation required for dinner. La Pergola handles the main buffet across all three meals with Tunisian staples (gargoulette lamb confit, egg brick, chorba) alongside the international rotation. The honest limitation: this is a large resort, and peak periods — especially school holidays — show it. Pool capacity and dining pace can feel strained during August.
Djerba-Zarzis International Airport (DJE) is approximately 30 minutes from the resort. The island itself has limited off-resort activity for guests who don't want to arrange excursions independently — the resort is self-contained by design.
