Exceptional Beach and Diving
The resort's beachfront location is consistently highlighted as its strongest asset, with clear waters perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and diving near Palancar Reef.
Friendly and Attentive Staff
Guests frequently commend the staff for their hospitality, helpfulness, and dedication to guest satisfaction, often going "above and beyond."
Family-Friendly Amenities
The dedicated water park and kids' club are big hits, making Allegro Cozumel an ideal choice for families with children.
Well-Maintained Grounds and Pools
The resort's grounds are beautiful and well-kept, featuring multiple clean pools and common areas that are frequently complimented.
Dated Rooms
Many guests caution that rooms can be dated, lacking modern amenities and potentially showing minor maintenance issues like chip-outs or rust, suggesting managed expectations regarding decor and technology.
Inconsistent Food Quality & Reservations
Be prepared for potentially repetitive buffet options and difficulty securing reservations at à la carte restaurants; exploring local eateries is a common recommendation.
Extra Cost & Unreliable Wi-Fi
The cost of Wi-Fi is a frequent point of frustration, as it's often not included in the standard package, can be expensive, and may be unreliable outside common areas.
Past Fire Safety Concerns
A past incident in August 2022 where fire alarms reportedly did not work has led some guests to advise bringing personal battery-operated fire alarms as a precaution.

Green Globe Certification
Green Globe
The main reason to choose Allegro Cozumel over any other Caribbean resort is the diving. Palancar Reef is a short boat ride from the beach, consistently ranked among the best dive sites in the world, and the on-site dive center runs four daily departures. The Ultimate Dive Experience package takes it further — dedicated rooms with daily dive tanks, an exclusive lounge, private reception, and concierge service. No comparable all-inclusive in Cozumel gives certified divers this level of integrated access.
For families who don't dive, it still works reasonably well: a pirate-themed water park, Kids Club (Barcy Club, ages 4–12), Teens Club, three illuminated tennis courts, and a good stretch of San Francisco Beach with calm, clear water for snorkeling. The 305 rooms are spread across Polynesian-style thatched bungalows on a green, well-maintained property that feels smaller and less chaotic than large mega-resorts. For families wanting activity without overwhelming scale, that's a feature rather than a limitation.
The honest issue is room quality. The bungalow format is charming, but rooms are dated — tube TVs in some units, old-fashioned decor, and maintenance quirks like rusting fixtures have been noted despite the 2016 renovation. The bungalows are two-story with no elevators, which is a genuine practical concern for guests with mobility issues. Wi-Fi costs extra in rooms and is unreliable — plan around this if consistent internet access matters.
Practical details: 305 rooms, 4-star, on Playa San Francisco (roughly 18km from Cozumel International Airport, about 25 minutes). Specialty restaurants (Italian, Japanese/teppanyaki, Mexican) require reservations that are hard to secure — availability is limited and fills on day one. Budget extra for specialty dining access early, or rely on the Topaz buffet, which is the most consistent option.
High season runs December through April. The island's diveable conditions are good year-round; hurricane season (August–October) brings risk but lower pricing.
