Prime Beachfront Location
Guests consistently laud the resort's direct beach access, offering beautiful white sands and pristine turquoise waters, perfect for swimming and relaxation.
Stay at 1, Play at More!
The unique policy allowing full access to facilities, dining, and entertainment at the sister property, Royal Decameron Cornwall Beach, is a significant value-add for guests.
Hip Strip & Airport Proximity
Its excellent location at the start of Montego Bay's lively "Hip Strip" and a very short drive from the airport are highly praised for convenience and local exploration.
Water Sports & Activities
The inclusion of non-motorized water sports like kayaking and sailing, coupled with daily entertainment and live music, provides ample engagement for guests.
Scuba Diving Opportunities
The resort's surrounding shallow waters are recognized as an ideal and diverse spot for both novice and experienced scuba divers to explore marine life.
Room Condition & Maintenance
Frequent concerns are raised about rooms being dated or "grotty," with reports of inconsistent hot water, broken fixtures, and general wear and tear requiring attention.
Inconsistent Service
While some staff are lauded, a recurring issue is perceived rude or dismissive attitudes from certain employees, with some guests feeling a strong emphasis on tipping.
Buffet Dining Variety
Guests often report that buffet options can be bland, repetitive, and not adequately replenished, particularly for those dining later in the meal service.
Early Pool Closures
The pools closing at 5:00 p.m. is a common point of dissatisfaction, limiting guests' evening enjoyment of the aquatic facilities.

The location at the beginning of Montego Bay's Hip Strip is the most distinctive feature of Grand Decameron Montego Beach. Most Jamaican all-inclusives isolate guests behind gates in development corridors far from actual Montego Bay. This property is 1.6-2 km from Sangster Airport and steps from the Hip Strip's bars, restaurants, and shops — giving guests an easy escape valve from the all-inclusive bubble whenever they want authentic Jamaican food, duty-free shopping, or a drink at a local bar. Doctor's Cave Beach, one of Jamaica's most famous swimming spots, is accessible on foot.
Opened in 1980 and presenting as a 3-3.5 star property, Grand Decameron Montego Beach is honest about its tier. The rooms are 301 sq ft with garden or ocean views — functional but showing their age in places. Guest reviews consistently describe maintenance issues in some rooms (inconsistent hot water, broken fixtures), thin towels, and a check-in process that can involve lengthy waits and room switches. The Glitter Disco Bar (capacity 100) and the pool bar/swim-up bar are the entertainment anchors. The sea diving board — a novelty feature — is available daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.
The Stay at 1, Play at More policy pairs Montego Beach with Cornwall Beach next door, giving guests combined access to four restaurants, nine bars (plus the disco), two pools, and the beach section at both properties. Without this cross-access, the dining program (Souk à la carte, Passa Passa buffet) would be too thin for a week's stay. With it, the combined property functions more like a mid-size resort.
At 144 rooms, the resort is small. The prime attribute is access: Montego Bay's town, local culture, and the airport are all within minutes. Guests who plan to leave the property for day trips, local meals, and shopping will find this location more useful than a remote resort with better facilities.
