One of the World Largest Hotel Companies Just Debuted Five New Properties Across the Caribbean and Latin America
IHG Hotels and Resorts opened five new hotels across Barbados, Aruba, Mexico, and more — including brand firsts for Garner and voco.
IHG Hotels and Resorts is making an aggressive push across Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean, opening five new properties that include brand firsts for two of its newer hotel lines in the region.
The openings span multiple countries and market segments. Garner Mazatlan Beach marks the first time IHG midscale conversion brand has appeared in Mexico, with 118 rooms and suites overlooking the Pacific coast in Mazatlan Cerritos neighborhood. Hotel Indigo Bridgetown Barbados brings 132 boutique rooms to the island historic South Coast, while Hotel Indigo Playa del Carmen adds 60 locally inspired rooms steps from the Caribbean Sea in Playa del Carmen.
On the premium side, voco Surfside Aruba expands IHG growing upscale brand to the Dutch Caribbean for the first time, with an oceanside setting near the airport. And Holiday Inn Express Condesa Mexico City targets the capital booming business and leisure corridor in the trendy Condesa neighborhood.
The five openings add to IHG nearly 400 open and pipeline properties across the region, with Mexico leading as the company fifth-largest market globally. More is coming: Kimpton Monterrey is expected later this year, bringing a boutique luxury hotel and branded residences to Torre Rise — set to become the tallest tower in Latin America.
The expansion reflects a wider pattern of global hotel giants treating the Caribbean and Latin America as a priority growth corridor, competing with all-inclusive specialists like Hyatt Inclusive Collection and Marriott All-Inclusive for market share in the region fastest-growing destinations.
