Guests Love

  • Stunning Beach & Setting

The white-sand Caribbean beach in Costa Mujeres consistently earns praise as one of the best in the Cancun area. The quiet, exclusive location away from the Hotel Zone feels genuinely private and less touristy.

  • Beautiful Modern Property

Guests are impressed by the sleek, contemporary design of the resort. Suites are spacious and well-appointed with modern bathrooms featuring double sinks, soaking tubs, and L'Occitane toiletries.

  • Excellent A La Carte Dining

The a la carte restaurants — particularly Sumptuori (Japanese teppanyaki), El Dorado (steakhouse), and Portofino (Italian) — receive strong praise for food quality and presentation.

  • Outstanding Entertainment

The nightly shows in the resort theater are frequently cited as a highlight. The POP animation team keeps a packed schedule of activities, and the Eclipse rooftop bar with live DJs is a guest favorite.

  • Family-Friendly Programming

Three age-specific kids clubs, the water park with slides, and the Family Selection butler service make this a strong choice for families. Children's programming runs from morning to late evening.

Guests Warn

  • Sprawling Grounds Require Walking

The property is very large and spread out. Walking from one end to the other takes 15-20 minutes. Golf carts and boats help but can involve waits, especially during peak times.

  • Buffet Food Gets Mixed Reviews

While a la carte restaurants are well-regarded, the main Isla Blanca buffet receives inconsistent feedback. Some guests find it repetitive, with limited fresh juice options and long lines for made-to-order stations during peak hours.

  • Seasonal Seaweed on Beach

Sargassum seaweed can affect the beach between April and August. The resort cleans daily, but heavy seaweed periods can impact the swimming experience and water clarity.

  • Value Perception Varies

Some guests feel the pricing does not match the experience, particularly compared to competing all-inclusives in the Riviera Maya. The extra charges for the spa circuit, CHIC Cabaret, and Le Petit Chef add up.

Best Family-Friendly All-Inclusive Resorts

A "hotel within a hotel" family enclave near Cancun with exclusive pools, a splash waterpark, kids clubs for babies through teens, and a family butler service. One of the most thoughtfully designed family sections of any major Caribbean resort.

Overview

Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres opened in November 2018 as Palladium's ambition statement — the brand's flagship Select-tier property in Mexico, built to a specification above the standard Kantenah and Lady Hamilton properties. The contemporary architecture, manmade canals traversed by boat shuttles, and 674 suites on powdery Caribbean beach in Costa Mujeres (north of Cancun's Hotel Zone) put it in a different register from the older Palladium properties.

The guest mix skews toward guests who want something that looks and feels like a high-end resort but is priced below Grand Velas or Secrets. The Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre with eight illuminated clay courts is a differentiator — one free hour per day is included in the rate and serious players can book additional time. The Family Selection section with 172 suites, dedicated butler service, private pool, and exclusive restaurant access caters to families wanting premium service within the complex. The CHIC Cabaret and Le Petit Chef experiences are available at surcharge — both are worth booking once for novelty but don't mistake them for included dining.

The honest limitation: this is a large resort and getting between facilities takes effort. Golf cart and boat shuttle service exists but has wait times. The main Isla Blanca buffet draws mixed reviews — the a la carte restaurants are notably better and reservations fill quickly through the Palladium app. The rooftop Eclipse bar is excellent for sunsets but seating fills fast in high season. Sargassum affects the beach from April through August, though the resort manages clearing actively.

Practically: 674 suites, 25 minutes from Cancun International Airport, mid-to-upper pricing for the Costa Mujeres area. The all-inclusive rate covers 10 restaurants, 21 bars, non-motorized water sports, fitness center, kids clubs, nightly entertainment, and one complimentary tennis hour per day. Hydrotherapy at Zentropia costs extra without a treatment booking.

Pros

  • +Opened 2018 — the most modern Palladium property in Mexico with contemporary design throughout
  • +Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre with 8 illuminated clay courts and one complimentary hour per day is a genuine differentiator — no other all-inclusive in the area offers this
  • +Costa Mujeres beach is wide, powdery, and quieter than Cancun Hotel Zone properties — one of the better beach situations in the region
  • +Eclipse rooftop bar has the best sunset view in the complex and works as an evening social hub

Cons

  • −The resort is large enough that navigation between areas requires a boat or golf cart — wait times on shuttles can frustrate guests in a hurry
  • −Main buffet Isla Blanca receives inconsistent reviews — a la carte restaurants are better and require early booking
  • −Hydrotherapy circuit requires a day pass fee unless you book a treatment
  • −Sargassum affects the beach April through August

Tips

  • Book a la carte restaurants through the Palladium app immediately on arrival — Sumptuori and El Dorado fill the fastest
  • Reserve the free Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre hour through the app in the morning — it books up for preferred time slots
  • Arrive at Eclipse bar by 5:30 PM in winter months for the sunset view — seating fills before the DJ sets start
  • Book a spa treatment to get complimentary hydrotherapy circuit access, which includes the Himalayan salt and snow rooms
