Beloved Playa Mujeres is one of the few all-inclusive resorts in the Cancún region that genuinely functions like a boutique hotel. With only 109 suites, no wristbands, no buffet, and no reservation requirements at any of its five restaurants, the experience is deliberately designed to feel nothing like a mass-market Caribbean all-inclusive. The property sits within the exclusive gated community of Playa Mujeres, 30 minutes north of Cancún's airport — far enough from the Hotel Zone strip to feel removed from it, close enough to reach Isla Mujeres for a day trip.
The resort opened in 2009 as La Amada Hotel and was reimagined under The Excellence Collection's Beloved Hotels brand. Room renovations in 2023 refreshed most of the suites while preserving the modern Mexican-contemporary architecture. The intimacy is real: at full occupancy, 109 couples share five restaurants, three pools, a long beach, and a 35,000 sq ft spa. Lines, crowds, and competition for chairs don't happen here the way they do at 400+ room properties.
Every suite starts at 960 sq ft — nearly double the size of a standard luxury hotel room. Every suite has an in-suite jacuzzi, a private balcony or terrace, Nespresso machine, L'Occitane bath amenities, a daily-restocked minibar, and 24-hour room service. No wristbands. No upgrade tiers dividing the dining access. The all-inclusive rate covers all five restaurants, six bars, 24-hour room service, non-motorized water sports, and fitness center access. This positions Beloved at a significantly higher price point than neighboring Excellence Playa Mujeres — and some guests note that the food quality, while good, doesn't match the pricing at ultra-luxury competitors where wine selection and culinary ambition operate at a higher level.
The Beloved Spa is the most compelling single facility: 35,000 sq ft, 14 treatment rooms, and the signature Agua Viva hydrotherapy circuit — a guided 90-minute water journey through experience showers, steam rooms, saunas, ice plunge pools, caldarium, hydro-massage stations, and cascading waterfalls. The circuit is included complimentary with any treatment booking. Best season is November through March: drier, lower humidity, and the peak of low sargassum seaweed. The resort operates a dedicated cleanup crew during sargassum season (typically April–August), but guests visiting during those months should have realistic expectations about the beach appearance.
