Exceptional Location
Guests consistently praise the direct beachfront access to El Castillo Beach and the hotel's prime location near the marina, shops, and restaurants, making it ideal for relaxation and exploration.
Professional Staff
The staff across all departments are highly commended for their professionalism, friendliness, and helpfulness, with many guests highlighting individual staff members for their excellent service.
Excellent Facilities
The resort boasts extensive and well-maintained facilities, including large outdoor pools (some heated), a modern gym, and a luxurious Thalasso spa, which significantly enhance the guest experience.
Spacious & Clean Rooms
Rooms generally receive positive feedback for being spacious, clean, and comfortable, often featuring balconies or terraces and desirable sea views.
Food Repetitiveness
Many guests express concern over the perceived average quality and lack of variety in the main buffet restaurant's food, particularly for dinner, which can become monotonous during longer stays.
Extra Charges
Guests frequently report being surprised by additional charges for amenities often expected in an all-inclusive resort, such as the room safe, beach sun loungers, and certain sports activities.
Noise Issues
Persistent complaints about noise from adjacent rooms, corridors, and even loud TVs indicate inadequate soundproofing that can negatively impact guest comfort and sleep quality.
Cold Pools
Despite some pools being advertised as heated, many guests find them to be too cold, especially during the winter months, limiting their usability.

Barceló Fuerteventura Mar's primary differentiator from other Canary Islands all-inclusives is the Bella La Spa — a 3,000 sq m Thalasso facility that the resort markets as the most advanced on Fuerteventura. While that claim is hard to independently verify, the hydrotherapy circuit here (indoor heated pools, sensation showers, multiple jet stations, sauna, and Turkish bath) is substantially larger than what competitors in Costa Teguise offer. If spa access matters to you, this is the better choice between the two Barceló Fuerteventura properties.
Mar is part of the same dual-hotel complex as Barceló Fuerteventura Castillo, with guests shuttling between both properties. In practical terms you have access to about 14 dining and bar venues, shared pools, and a shared beach across both sides. The Mar property has the stronger spa and a slightly larger room count (486 rooms vs. Castillo's 301); Castillo has the award-winning La Dolce Vita pizza and the bungalow-style layout.
The resort suits guests who want to anchor their holiday around the spa without spending resort prices for a purely spa-focused hotel. Couples get the most out of it — the Royal Level adults-only option and the sea-view Deluxe rooms are genuinely good. Families can make it work, particularly with the Barcy Club and dedicated kids' pool, but the bungalow-style rooms at Castillo are more practical for families with young children.
The buffets are the honest weak point. Tindaya and Mafasca serve three meals a day and receive the standard complaints: repetitive rotation, occasionally cold food, generic cocktails at the bars. The Rodizio Brazilian dinner and Palo Santo Mexican night require reservations and represent the buffet's best nights — book these immediately on arrival.
Fuerteventura Airport is 6-11 km away (8-24 minutes depending on route). The Caleta de Fuste marina is within walking distance, which opens up external dining and watersports beyond the all-inclusive wristband.
