Rating7.8Water sports at the private beach, three pools, a kids' club for 4–12-year-olds, and an evening entertainment program. The beach's calm water is suitable for beginner kayaking and snorkeling. Evening shows and the disco run nightly. Most water sports are included; motorized activities require extra booking.
Largest pool with swim-up bar. Daily entertainment and organized games from the activities team. Gets lively from 11 AM. Not the quiet option.
Quieter pool away from the main entertainment zone. Sun loungers and umbrellas. Noticeably calmer — the right choice for adults who want to read in peace.
Dedicated shallow pool for younger kids, separate from the main pools. Safe for toddlers. Near the Kids Club building.
White sand, calm turquoise Caribbean water within the Playacar gated community. Genuinely private — no non-hotel beach vendors or outside day visitors. Non-motorized water sports (kayaking, snorkeling, sailing) operate from the beach. Sun loungers and umbrellas provided. Clear water is good for beginner snorkeling directly from shore.
Mexican à la carte serving tacos, mole, and ceviche.
Italian à la carte with pasta and regional dishes.
Asian à la carte with sushi and specialty dishes.
International buffet for breakfast and dinner.
Poolside pizza and sandwiches noon to 6 PM.
Hot dogs and burgers poolside noon to 4 PM.
Guided archery sessions available to all guests. Check the daily schedule for timing.
Air-conditioned gym plus aerobics and Zumba classes. The air conditioning is a meaningful feature given Playa del Carmen's heat and humidity.
Supervised program for ages 4–12, 10am to 5pm daily. Video game room, painting, water games, and sandcastle building. The game room addition is a genuine draw for children who want indoor time during the hottest afternoon hours.
Children's evening entertainment with piñatas, games, and dancing. Runs before the adult entertainment program — parents can attend before transitioning to the adult shows.
Live performances in the open-air theater most evenings. The theater format is pleasant — check the show schedule at the activity desk for the better performances of the week.
Adult evening program including live music, disco, themed dinners, karaoke, bingo, stand-up comedy, and pub crawls. More variety than a typical small resort's entertainment calendar. The themed dinner nights are worth coordinating specialty restaurant reservations around.
Wave Runner rentals available at extra cost. Book through the beach vendor directly.
The on-site PADI 5-star dive center is the most sophisticated water sports infrastructure on property. Guided excursions to the Riviera Maya's reef system, full PADI certification courses, and equipment rental. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef near Playa del Carmen offers excellent visibility and diverse marine life. Book dive excursions in advance during high season.
Charters available at extra cost through the activities desk. The deep water off the Caribbean coast holds good numbers of sailfish and mahi-mahi.
Courts available at the adjacent Royal Hideaway Hotel at extra cost. A note for pickleball players — it's not on-property but it's close.
Organized trips to Tulum ruins, Chichen Itza, cenotes, and Isla Mujeres. The cenote trip is the most accessible and popular with first-time visitors to the region. Tulum ruins are about 90 minutes south — a half-day commitment. Book through the concierge desk.
