St. James's Club sits on a 100-acre peninsula on Antigua's southeastern coast — a layout that gives the resort two entirely different beach experiences on opposite sides. Mamora Bay Beach faces the bayside with calm protected water: good for families with kids, paddleboarding, Hobie Cat sailing, and leisurely swimming. Coco Beach on the oceanside is quieter and more exposed, suited for snorkeling and guests who want to lie on sand without the social activity of the main beach. Having both on a single property removes a common trade-off between active and peaceful beach experiences.
The resort originally opened in 1960 and underwent major renovation in 2020. Further updates to Royal Suites, Beachfront Rooms, and the Piccolo Mondo Restaurant are planned for late 2025 and early 2026 — timing matters here, as ongoing construction can affect the stay experience. The Elite Island Resorts management has run the property continuously and the staff reputation is consistently strong in guest reviews.
The all-inclusive program covers all meals, unlimited drinks, non-motorized water sports, and daily activities — a comprehensive inclusion that works well for families who don't want per-activity tracking. The two-bedroom villas at 1,600 sq ft and three-bedroom options at 2,000 sq ft give the property a positioning that works for extended families or friend groups, which is rarer in the all-inclusive Caribbean market.
Wi-Fi reliability is a known issue — several reviewers describe inconsistent connectivity and suggest treating this as a digital-detox stay rather than a working trip. The buffet food draws some complaints about temperature and consistency, and à la carte restaurants are popular enough to warrant booking immediately upon arrival.
