Planet Hollywood Cancun opened in 2021 as one of the newer large-format all-inclusives north of Cancun in Costa Mujeres. The property operates under Royalton Luxury Resorts and uses a Hollywood theme as its primary identity—movie memorabilia throughout, a Star Class personal agent upgrade, and enough novelty to stand out in a saturated market. At 648 rooms across family and adults-only sections, it is a large resort but not the largest in the area.
The hotel's key differentiator is Planet Play, an indoor adventure park with trampolines, a golf simulator, and arcade games. This makes rainy days and afternoon heat non-issues for families with children—a meaningful practical feature in the Mexican Caribbean. The water park includes Shipwreck Cove, a Jurassic Splash Park, and a lazy river. Kids get the Stars Kids Club (ages 4–12) and Teens Club (13–17). Adults who want a quieter experience book the Planet Hollywood Adult Scene section with its own pool and amenities.
Dining is the strongest argument for this property: eleven included restaurants with no reservation requirement for most. This includes teppanyaki and sushi at East, authentic Indian cooking by an Indian chef at Sutra (plus a hookah lounge), Brazilian churrascaria at Braza Grill, and Guy's! Burger Joint by Guy Fieri—an unusual branded food partnership for an all-inclusive. The 6th Sense Chef's Table carries an extra charge. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available across the program.
Costa Mujeres is 37–44 km from Cancun airport (27–63 minutes depending on traffic); the transfer time variance is significant and guests should plan accordingly. The beach is on the Costa Mujeres strip—generally clean and less crowded than the Hotel Zone. The Star Class upgrade adds a personal butler-style agent, priority access, exclusive pool, and a 20% spa discount—the clearest way to elevate a stay at a property this size.
