Ocean El Faro opened in late 2018 in Uvero Alto — the quieter eastern stretch of Punta Cana's coastline, away from the more densely developed Bávaro hotel strip. The colonial lighthouse at the property's center is structural and functions as a bar (El Faro), not just decorative. The adults-only El Beso section opened separately in May 2019 — guests booking El Beso rooms get exclusive pool access and a dedicated restaurant.
Uvero Alto is 38 to 40 km from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) — a 30 to 40-minute transfer. The beach here is less manicured than Bávaro: parts are rocky with waves, and seaweed can appear after storms. There is a calmer sandy bay area adjacent to the hotel for better swimming conditions — ask for directions to it on arrival rather than heading directly to the main beach.
The resort has a professional bowling alley — an unusual amenity at a Punta Cana all-inclusive, and a popular one. Confirm whether it's included in your specific package or charged separately at check-in. Similarly, casino access is on-site. The Privilege room tier unlocks preferential restaurant reservations and dedicated buffet access — relevant because standard à la carte reservation slots fill quickly and guest reviews consistently flag this as a friction point.
The Despacio Spa has 12 treatment cabins — a larger-than-average treatment room count for an all-inclusive at this price point. The hydrotherapy circuit (Jacuzzi, sauna, steam) is at extra charge. Book treatment appointments on arrival day for the best availability across the week.
