Every room at the Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites is a suite — which sounds like marketing language until you're traveling with a family and realize it means you never have to squeeze into a standard hotel double. The 319 suites, renovated in 2023, sit within a larger Iberostar campus that gives guests access to amenities at the adjacent Iberostar Rose Hall Beach property. The waterpark, called Aquafun, and the lazy river are the main reason families choose this over other Montego Bay properties — they function as a full day's entertainment for children under 12 without requiring a shuttle or an entrance fee.
This is a family property, specifically one that works well for families with children aged 4 to 17. The Star Camp kids club divides into age groups (Kangaroo, Monkey, Dolphin, Eagle), and the dedicated teen program runs separately. Couples who want a quiet, romantic atmosphere will find the activity pool and entertainment programming disruptive. Adults-only seekers should book one of the Iberostar brand's dedicated adult properties instead.
The most consistent complaint in guest reviews is vendor harassment on the beach. Independent sellers are persistent, and staff are not always able to intervene effectively. Some guests also report pressure at breakfast to attend resort presentations that are thinly disguised timeshare pitches — the polite decline takes firmness. A second recurring issue is room maintenance: post-renovation quality is generally positive, but some guests have encountered faulty fixtures that required follow-up to resolve.
The resort sits 11 to 17 km from Sangster International Airport (MBJ) — roughly a 15 to 25-minute drive depending on traffic. As an EarthCheck certified property, it has eliminated single-use plastics and runs an active sustainability program. Seven restaurants, six bars, and 24-hour access to the StarCafé round out the food and beverage options. For golfers, the nearby Iberostar Bávaro Golf Club is accessible. Suites guests receive complimentary access to the spa's hydrotherapy circuit, a perk worth factoring into the value calculation.
