Iberostar Selection Albufera Playa is the bigger of the two Albufera properties — 350–360 rooms rebuilt and reopened in June 2023, sitting directly on Playa de Muro in northern Majorca. What separates Albufera Playa from its sister property (Albufera Park) is the exclusive Star Prestige adults-only rooftop with an infinity pool overlooking the beach, and the swim-up room configuration that connects ground-floor rooms directly to the pool. Both properties share the same 10-venue dining program, 7 pools, and beach access — the decision between the two is primarily about whether the swim-up rooms or rooftop exclusives are worth the premium, and whether the larger room count suits your preference.
This is firmly a family resort at its core, despite the Star Prestige adults-only zone. Star Camp covers three age groups (4–7, 8–12, 13–17), the splash park runs separately from the main pools, and the beach at Playa de Muro — shallow, calm, Blue Flag certified — gives families the water environment they typically travel to Majorca for. The Albufera Nature Reserve begins literally at the resort boundary, providing easy access to flat cycling paths and birdwatching that most guests never use.
Honest issues from recent guest feedback: outdoor pools are unheated (cold before July and after August), the Star Camp teen programs (Dolphin and Eagle) only operate July–August, and specialty restaurant reservations in the shared complex — particularly Martinete — fill from both properties simultaneously, which increases competition for slots. Guests seeking quiet should request rooms away from the main entertainment hubs.
