Activities at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya

Non-motorized water sports and most activities are included in the all-inclusive rate. The Rockaway Bay Water Park requires no extra fee and is the primary family draw. Golf, over-water cabana rental, and off-site excursions (cenotes, Chichen Itza) cost extra. LES MILLS fitness classes at the gym are a step above typical resort fitness programming. Register for paddleboarding and teppanyaki on arrival day.

Swimming Pools

Hacienda Rojo Pool

The main family pool — large, multi-sectioned, and programmed throughout the day with foam parties, water aerobics, and games. Swim-up bar included. Expect high crowd density from mid-morning through late afternoon. The fire shows happen nearby in the evenings.

Rockaway Bay Water Park

23 slides plus a splash zone and shallow kids' area. Open 11am–5pm daily. Best to arrive at opening to avoid lines at the slides. Closes promptly at 5pm.

Kids' Pool

Dedicated children's pool with small slides, fountains, and interactive play features. Shallow depth; appropriate for younger children who aren't ready for the main water park slides.

Lazy River

Gentle float circuit in the Hacienda section. Low-energy and popular with all ages. Gets crowded in the afternoon; visit mid-morning for a more relaxed experience.

Swim-up Bar Pool (Hacienda Rojo)

Located within the main Hacienda Rojo area. Live DJ and evening events make this busier than most swim-up bars. If you want a drink in the pool with music, this is the spot.

EDEN Pool (Heaven Section)

Adults-only pool with panoramic ocean views and handcrafted cocktail service from the Arribo Bar. One of the more pleasant pool experiences on property — calmer, better service, better views. A primary reason to book in the Heaven section.

Heaven Area Pools

Multiple adults-only pools in the Heaven section provide overflow capacity and quiet alternatives. Crowd levels are noticeably lower than the family side.

Preferred Club Adults-Only Pool (16+)

Exclusive to Preferred Club guests 16 and older. Enhanced privacy and service levels. Access requires specific room category booking.

Beaches

Rojo Beach

The main family beach with protected lagoon-style water created by wave-breakers. Calm, clear, and genuinely swimmable — snorkeling gear and boogie boards available to borrow, kayaks available to rent. Fish spotting is reliable. Not a traditional surf beach; the protected water trades wave action for safe swimming conditions.

Mirador Azul

Smaller and more private beach accessible via stone steps. Good for guests who find Rojo Beach crowded. Scenic setting with calmer atmosphere. Same protected water conditions.

Azul Beach (near Heaven section)

Adults-only beach cove near the Heaven section with natural sea cove protection. The quietest of the three beaches. Good for guests in the Heaven section who want their own beach area without children.

Snorkeling Gear

Included

Free to borrow; the protected beach coves are genuinely worth using gear here. Fish spotting is reliable in the calm lagoon areas. Better snorkeling than most Caribbean resort beaches because the wave-breakers create an unusually calm, clear environment.

Boogie Boards

Included

Available to borrow for use in the lagoon-style beach areas. The boards have view windows — a simple feature that kids enjoy. Not useful for waves (there aren't any in the protected coves).

Paddleboarding

Included

Stand-up paddleboard use is included. Register with activities staff on arrival since equipment is limited. Morning sessions are calmer; wind picks up in the afternoons.

Rockaway Bay Water Park

Included

23 slides across a proper water park, open 11am–5pm daily. The main differentiator for families with children. One of the larger resort-integrated water parks in the Riviera Maya. Arrives at capacity quickly after opening.

Outdoor Tennis Courts

Included

Available for drop-in use. No formal instruction program listed. Bring your own racket or check at the activities desk for equipment.

Climbing Wall

Included

On-site wall available to all guests. A useful option for older children and teens who want something more physical than pool activities. Check for supervised hours.

Fitness Center Access

Included

Body Rock® Fitness Center with LES MILLS-certified classes — a notch above standard resort gym programming. Full equipment available; classes have scheduled times, check the daily board.

Yoga Classes

Rotating schedule of shows including theater productions, cabaret, fire shows by the Hacienda Roja Pool, and lobby entertainment like magic acts. Fire shows by the pool are the most popular; arrive 20 minutes early for good spots.
