Massive Pool Complex
The 86,000-square-foot pool area with whirlpools, swim-up bar, and adults-only Coral Pool earns consistent praise as one of the best pool setups in Jamaica. The variety means guests always find space even during peak season.
Warm Jamaican Staff
Many guests single out individual staff members by name for going above and beyond, particularly bartenders, restaurant servers, and entertainment team members. The Jamaican warmth and friendliness shine through the guest experience.
Excellent Kids Facilities
Families consistently praise the kids club, water park, baby club, and teen club programming. The dedicated facilities keep children of all ages happily entertained throughout the day and evening.
Renovated Rooms and Suites
The 2023 renovation drew positive feedback for modernized rooms with new furniture, updated bathrooms, and the addition of Superior Suites with private infinity pools — a meaningful step up from the prior room product.
Dining Variety
Guests appreciate the range of 10 restaurants and 17 bars, with Xaymaica (Jamaican) and Lotus House (Japanese teppanyaki) frequently cited as standouts. Themed buffet nights and specialty cocktails add variety throughout a stay.
Underwhelming Beaches
The property's beaches are narrow, partly man-made, and can be rocky in sections. Guests expecting wide white-sand Caribbean beaches similar to Montego Bay or Negril may be disappointed.
Remote Location
The resort's secluded setting in Lucea means there is very little within walking distance. The one-hour airport transfer and limited nearby attractions can feel isolating for some guests.
Enormous Property Requires Walking
The combined two-resort complex spans a vast footprint. Guests commonly log 15,000+ steps daily walking between restaurants, pools, and beaches, which can be tiring in tropical heat.
Timeshare Sales Pressure
Multiple reviewers report aggressive timeshare or travel club presentations, sometimes disguised as free spa or excursion offers. Guests should be aware and prepared to decline firmly.
Inconsistent Buffet Quality
While a la carte restaurants receive generally positive reviews, the buffet restaurants draw mixed feedback regarding food temperature, variety, and replenishment speed during busy periods.

$27.5 Million Renovation
Complete renovation of all 537 suites and common areas completed 2023
Palladium Hotel Group
The big story at Grand Palladium Jamaica isn't the star rating — it's the scale of what was done in 2023. A $27.5 million renovation refreshed every one of the 537 suites, added 48 new Superior Suites with private infinity pools facing the Caribbean, and expanded the Mo'Bay buffet. What you're getting is a major resort that was updated recently enough to feel current, in a destination where many competitors haven't touched a guest room in a decade.
This resort works best for families who want options — lots of them. The shared complex with Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton effectively doubles the dining, bar, and pool choices under one all-inclusive wristband. Seven a la carte restaurants, three buffets, 17 bars, five pool areas, four beaches, kids clubs for every age group from toddler to teen, and a nightclub open until 2 AM. If your group spans multiple generations with different agendas, that variety is genuinely useful. Solo travelers or couples prioritizing intimacy will likely find the scale overwhelming — this is not a quiet retreat.
The honest drawback is the location. Lucea sits on Jamaica's northwest coast, about an hour from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. That's a reasonable transfer, but it's far enough that you won't be nipping out to local restaurants or exploring Negril on a whim. The beach situation is also worth knowing in advance: the four beaches are attractive, but some sections are narrow and partly reinforced, and they don't compare to the wide flat sand at Negril. Sunset Cove is the pick of the four, with calmer, clearer water than the open beaches.
Practically speaking: 537 suites across 14 villas means you will walk — guests regularly report 15,000+ steps per day just getting between the pool, beach, and restaurants. The Infinite Indulgence program covers all food, unlimited premium and domestic drinks, non-motorized water sports, daily fitness classes, and nightly entertainment including the Boogie Woogie nightclub. Hydrotherapy at the Zentropia Spa costs $35 per day unless you book a treatment, which waives the fee. Pricing sits in the mid-tier for Jamaica all-inclusives — not cheap, not Grand Velas.
The 2023 renovation also added pickleball courts, expanded the adults-only Coral Pool hours to midnight, and refreshed the Infinity Saloon Bar with a new terrace overlooking the sea. For a resort of this size and age (opened 2008), the post-renovation condition is genuinely one of its strongest selling points right now.
