Punta Mita, Banderas Bay, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico
Most activities are included in the Unlimited-Luxury rate. Motorized water sports, actual surf lessons, zipline, and off-site excursions are the main paid extras. The property has dedicated programs for three age groups: young children (Explorer's Club), teens (CoreZone), and adults.
12,200 sq ft, 1.2–1.4m depth throughout, open to all guests. Two swim-up bars. The largest and busiest pool — arrives fills with loungers by mid-morning in high season. The infinity edge faces Banderas Bay. Most resort activity gravitates here.
Dedicated adults-only pool with ocean views and a bar area. A real alternative to the main pool for guests traveling without children. Quieter and smaller than the main pool — mid-morning is the best time to claim a prime spot.
Exclusive to Preferred Club guests, adults-only. Elevated position gives the best views on the property. Small and intimate — one of the strongest reasons to book the Preferred Club tier.
Dedicated children's pool with pirate ship and shallow splash zone. Separate from the main pool — gives parents the option to keep young children in a controlled shallow environment while older kids use the main pool.
18,600 sq ft water park with three pools (two heated to 4ft depth), three water slides, pirate ship, and two hot tubs. Opens at 11am — the late start is a known frustration for families with early-rising children. The size and variety make it the best water park feature among comparable Riviera Nayarit all-inclusives.
At least two dedicated pools for resort-led games (water polo, aerobics). Separate from the leisure pools — the activity noise doesn't carry to the relaxation areas.
A pool specifically designed for in-water bar service. Smaller than the main pool and usually less crowded — a practical option for guests who want drinks without the main pool crowd.
Fine golden sand on Banderas Bay. The beach is surf-friendly — consistent waves, sandy bottom, and good conditions for boogie boarding and body surfing. This is not a calm, flat-water beach: wave action is real, and it is not ideal for very young children who aren't comfortable in moving water. Beach waiters circulate throughout the day, umbrellas and cabanas are included. Preferred Club guests have a dedicated section with enhanced service. The beach is cleaned daily. January–March brings whale sightings offshore — visible without any additional activity booking.
Complimentary kayaks available at the beach. Banderas Bay is open-ocean — calm in the morning, choppier by afternoon. Best for paddlers comfortable in mild surf.
Stand-up paddleboards available at the beach, included. Morning conditions are typically calmer and better suited for beginners.
Boards provided on the beach, included. Punta Burros has consistent small waves — worth it for anyone comfortable in light surf.
Free introductory surf lesson covering stance, paddling, and pop-up technique — conducted on the sand, not in the water. A practical primer before booking paid lessons in the ocean.
Equipment provided, included. Banderas Bay has moderate marine life; the snorkeling close to shore is decent but not exceptional compared to Pacific reef destinations.
Pool-based intro sessions, included. A safe environment to try both sports before committing to open-water versions.
Daily scheduled sessions in the activity pool, included. The schedule is posted on the resort app each morning.
Courts on Punta Burros Beach, included. Organized games run by the animation team; equipment also available for independent play.
Dedicated courts, included. The availability of pickleball is relatively unusual at Mexican all-inclusives and worth noting for guests who play the sport regularly.
Organized matches in the activity pool, included. Schedule posted on the app.
Available throughout the day, included. Open for independent use as well as organized tournaments.
Indoor games area, included. Accessible during daytime and evening hours.
Daily scheduled fitness classes, all included. The yoga deck with Banderas Bay views is frequently cited as a highlight.
Trails accessible from the property, included. The Punta Mita area has scenic coastal terrain — the trails are light-use and manageable for most fitness levels.
Full gym with cardio machines, free weights, and resistance equipment, included and open daily.
Supervised program for ages 3–12, 9am–10pm, included. Red Cross-certified staff. Activities include arts and crafts, video games, movie nights, sandcastle competitions. The long daily window (13 hours) is one of the most generous on the Riviera Nayarit.
For ages 13–17, noon–10pm, included. Video games, mini-disco, internet computers, movie nights. A useful program for a demographic that most resorts handle poorly.
Evening entertainment program, included. Outdoor theater hosts themed shows and live performances. Schedule varies; posted daily on the app.
360-degree sight, sound, and waterfall experience, included. A distinctive on-property attraction not common at comparable resorts.
Scheduled guided tequila sessions, included. A practical way to learn about regional spirits without booking an off-site excursion.
Jet skiing, banana boats, and similar — extra charge. Operated from the beach; confirm current offerings at the beach desk.
In-ocean lessons with instructors — extra charge. Book through the concierge. Punta Mita is a legitimate surf destination; the instruction quality is generally reviewed positively.
Championship courses are within short driving distance of Punta Mita, including the Four Seasons Golf Club Punta Mita. Extra charge. Arrange through concierge.
Zipline on the resort grounds, extra charge. A short but genuinely fun add-on for families.
Day trips to Marietas Island, Los Arcos National Park, and off-site zip-lining — extra charge. Marietas Island requires a permit (book early, availability is limited).
