One of America's Biggest Vacation-Ownership Brands Just Made Its First Caribbean Move
Westgate Resorts is opening its first-ever Caribbean property, Westgate Bimini Bay in The Bahamas, with villas and an Oct. 1 debut.
One of the biggest names in American vacation ownership is heading to the Caribbean for the first time. Westgate Resorts is opening Westgate Bimini Bay in The Bahamas, with reservations already open for stays beginning Oct. 1.
The resort sits on North Bimini, the Bahamian island roughly 50 miles off the Florida coast, close enough to reach by air, ferry, or private boat. It becomes Westgate's first property outside its longtime North American network, which now approaches 60 resorts across markets like Orlando, Las Vegas, and Myrtle Beach.
Rather than conventional hotel rooms, Westgate Bimini Bay offers newly renovated studio and two-bedroom villas that sleep four or six, a format aimed at couples, families, and fishing groups. The largest units suit travelers who want extra room on an island where villas have long been a practical base. On-island operations will be handled by G&G Luxury Property Management, a Bimini-based Bahamian company, and existing Westgate owners can begin exchanging into the property immediately.
Bimini is a fitting first Caribbean stop. The island is known for sport fishing, marinas, snorkeling, and quiet beaches reached by golf cart, and American Airlines recently added nonstop service between Miami and Bimini. Westgate's arrival follows a Bimini real estate investment the company announced last year.
The debut also lands as The Bahamas keeps breaking tourism records, with 12.5 million visitors in 2025, up from 11.2 million a year earlier. For Westgate's large base of repeat owners, Bimini now offers an international option a short hop from South Florida.
