Barbados has long been defined by boutique hotels and European-style luxury properties. That changed today. Royalton Vessence Barbados, a 220-suite adults-only all-inclusive, opened on the island's celebrated Platinum Coast as part of Marriott's Autograph Collection.

The property represents a meaningful shift for Barbados, a destination that has historically underrepresented the all-inclusive category compared to neighbors like the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. It's also the first large-format all-inclusive to position itself alongside Platinum Coast stalwarts like Sandy Lane and Cobblers Cove.

What's Inside

The resort opens with 13 culinary offerings and four bars, including a panoramic rooftop restaurant with views over the Caribbean Sea. An open-air venue called The Studio hosts hands-on art and culinary experiences by day and transitions to live music at night. The Royal Spa is built around holistic treatments rather than a conventional resort spa menu, and pools stay illuminated and open for late-night swimming.

The Marriott Connection

For loyalty-program travelers, the Autograph Collection affiliation is the headline. Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and redeem points on all-inclusive stays — covering food, drinks, and resort amenities, not just the room. Award nights are expected to fall in the 40,000- to 70,000-point range, with Bonvoy's fifth-night-free benefit applying on five-night-or-longer stays.

Suites include the brand's Diamond Club tier, which adds butler service, premium amenities, and access to a private beach area. Opening rates start at $932 per night for a Luxury Junior Suite, with swim-out rooms reaching $1,674.
