One of Aruba's Best-Known Beach Resorts Just Reopened — After a $25 Million Reinvention

Riu Hotels & Resorts has reopened one of its most recognizable Caribbean properties following a $25 million renovation that touched nearly every part of the resort. The Hotel Riu Palace Aruba, a fixture on the island's Palm Beach strip, welcomed guests back on July 31 with a refreshed design, new dining venues, and updated rooms.

All 450 guestrooms were rebuilt around a lighter, more contemporary look, pairing natural tones with modern in-room technology. The dining program was the bigger story, though: the renovation added a 24-hour Sports Bar and three new themed restaurants, bringing the property to eight restaurants and six bars in total. Guests also get four outdoor pool areas, including a dedicated sun terrace and a baby pool, plus daily entertainment and free access to the on-site Pacha nightclub.

The reinvestment reflects how much competition has intensified on Aruba's Palm Beach, where all-inclusive operators are racing to modernize aging properties rather than cede ground to newer builds. Riu has leaned hard into renovation across its Caribbean and Mexican portfolio over the past year, recently completing a comprehensive overhaul of the Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun.

For Aruba, the reopening keeps one of its highest-profile beachfront resorts in the game at a moment when the island continues to draw strong North American demand. The Palm Beach location puts guests within walking distance of the high-rise district's restaurants, shops, and casinos, while the all-inclusive format keeps the resort itself the center of the stay.
