Grupo Xcaret will break ground next year on a 600-room expansion of Hotel Xcaret México, the company's flagship family all-inclusive on Mexico's Riviera Maya. The project anchors a roughly $700 million investment aimed at growing both the resort's capacity and its entertainment offerings.

The expansion follows an even larger recent build-out. Roughly 900 rooms came online last year, lifting the property to about 1,800 accommodations, alongside 10 new restaurants that brought its dining count to 22, a family spa, a teens-only rooftop and pool zone, more waterslides, and Xiquit Inn, a mini hotel where children play at running their own property. Once the new phase is finished, Hotel Xcaret México will offer around 2,400 accommodations.

The scale is the story here. Most new Mexico all-inclusives open in the 300-to-500-room range, so a single resort pushing past 2,400 rooms puts it in a category of its own on the Riviera Maya. The plan also grows meeting and conference space to more than 48,000 square feet, a sign the resort wants a bigger share of the group and incentive market on top of its family base.

Hotel Xcaret México is built around access to the Grupo Xcaret parks, with the "All-Fun Inclusive" model bundling admission to attractions like Xcaret, Xel-Há, and Xplor into the stay. Adding hundreds of rooms without a matching jump in park capacity is a bet that the parks can absorb the extra guests, and that demand for the all-in-one format on the Riviera Maya is nowhere near its ceiling.
