Three U.S. Cities Are Getting New Nonstop Holiday Flights to a Caribbean Island — No Passport Required

Frontier Airlines is giving three U.S. markets a direct line to the Caribbean this winter, adding seasonal daily nonstop flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico from Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Cleveland for the 2026 holiday season. Because Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, travelers from the mainland can make the trip without a passport.

The Dallas-Fort Worth route runs first, operating from Nov. 20 through Jan. 4, timed squarely to Thanksgiving, the December holidays and New Year's. The Houston and Cleveland routes both launch Dec. 17 and run through Jan. 4, covering the peak of the winter break.

Frontier will fly the routes on Airbus A320neo aircraft seating 186 passengers, adding roughly 15,624 seats to the San Juan market over the holiday window. The airline estimates the added service will contribute about $10.4 million to Puerto Rico's economy.

The move continues Frontier's steady buildup at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, which has become one of the carrier's more active Caribbean gateways. For Puerto Rico, more nonstop capacity from Texas and Ohio widens the funnel of mainland travelers during the island's busiest and most lucrative travel weeks.

For travelers, the appeal is the combination of a short, document-light trip and a genuine Caribbean winter escape — Old San Juan's blue cobblestones, the beaches at Isla Verde and Condado, and the rainforest trails of El Yunque, all reachable on a nonstop and without the international-arrival paperwork. Seasonal routes like these tend to sell out fast around the holidays, so the earliest bookings usually land the lowest fares.
