This Bahamas Mega-Resort Now Lets Guests Release Baby Sea Turtles — for a Few Weeks Only

Atlantis Paradise Island has launched a new experience that lets guests release newly hatched green sea turtles into the ocean — the first time the sprawling Paradise Island resort has offered visitors a direct role in a hatchling release.

The Baby Sea Turtle Release program runs through the end of September, with available dates dictated by the natural timing of nest hatchings rather than a fixed schedule. Because it depends on when nests hatch, availability is intentionally limited, and guests are told to check for updates and open dates once they arrive.

The experience starts with a visit to Atlantis' Royal Fish Hospital, where participants learn about green sea turtles, their habitat and the conservation work surrounding them. Then, at sunset, each guest releases a baby turtle into the ocean along what the resort calls its "Sea Turtle Highway."

The program runs from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and starts at $150 per person. Participants must be at least 6 years old, and anyone under 18 has to be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian. Reservations are required and can be booked through the Atlantis Adventures desks on property.

The addition gives the Bahamas resort another wildlife-focused draw at a time when travelers increasingly seek out conservation-minded experiences alongside the beaches and water parks. For families timing a late-summer trip, it is a rare, calendar-dependent window that closes when the season's nests stop hatching.
