Viva Azteca by Wyndham, A Trademark All Inclusive Resort
Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico
Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico
A solid all-inclusive activity program with genuine variety — water sports, fitness, sports, and evening entertainment. The dual-resort setup means activities at both properties are available. The trapeze is not at this property (that's Viva Maya), but the beach sports and water activity lineup is comprehensive. Evening entertainment is nightly and varies by day.
Main pool with ocean sightlines and adjacent bar. Poolside loungers are claimed by 8–9 AM during peak weeks. The pool is a manageable size for the resort occupancy — not overcrowded except on high-occupancy weekends.
Open-air hot tub. Best in the evening after the main pool crowd thins.
Shallow, designated kids area. Supervised during Kids' Club hours.
One of the better beaches in Playa del Carmen — white sand, typically calm Caribbean water, and well-maintained within the gated Playacar complex. The security setup means you can leave belongings briefly unattended with reasonable confidence. Loungers and palapas provided. Self-service non-alcoholic drinks near the beach entrance. Non-motorized water sports available from the shore.
Equipment and instruction available from the beach. Included in rate. Afternoon winds make conditions best for experienced sailors.
Small sailboat access from the beach. Complimentary. Group instruction available.
Canoes and kayaks available from the beach. Calm Caribbean conditions are ideal for beginners.
Pool-based introductory scuba lesson. Free. Good way to decide if you want to pay for a guided reef dive.
Instructor-led sessions in the main pool. Morning schedule.
Boogie boards provided from the beach. Waves are gentle in the Playacar section — suitable for children.
Lit courts for evening play. Equipment provided.
Field available for organized or casual games. Popular in the late afternoon.
Pool table in the designated recreation area. Walk-in, no reservation.
Bikes available for the Playacar complex and surrounding gated area. A comfortable way to reach the Playacar Club de Golf or explore the complex.
Organized games in the afternoon on the private beach. Walk-up play outside scheduled hours.
Padel court available. Equipment provided. Growing in popularity — arrive early on weekday mornings to get a court.
Instructor-led sessions. Included.
Tables available in the recreation area.
Modern equipment. Trainer available. Included.
Complimentary classes, multiple levels.
Instructor-led. Part of the daily fitness schedule.
Ages 4–12. Open 9 AM to 6 PM. Small pool, arts and crafts, and mini disco. Supervised throughout operating hours.
Rotating themed productions. Quality varies — the cultural and acrobatic shows receive better marks than the variety formats.
Performed at various bar locations throughout the evening.
DJ-led disco nightly. The loudest venue on the property — rooms close to the entertainment area will hear it until closing.
Holy Colors, White Party, Foam Party, and similar themed events. Scheduled throughout the week — ask the activity desk which nights are themed to plan specialty restaurant dinners around them.
Hands-on preparation of authentic dishes. Offered on select days.
Complimentary. Popular for couples who want to learn merengue or salsa.
Mixology sessions. Included. The activity desk has the schedule.
Guided snorkel excursions at extra cost. The Playacar beach is swimmable but not a snorkel destination — excursions go to better reef areas.
Available at extra cost from the beach.
PADI certification and guided reef dives at extra cost through the resort dive center.
Deep-sea fishing at extra cost. Concierge arranges.
18-hole course within the Playacar complex at extra cost. Walking distance or short bike ride.
Off-site excursion. Extra cost.
Tour desk books Chichen Itza, Tulum, Xcaret, cenotes, and sea turtle snorkeling at Akumal. All extra cost.
