Air Canada Vacations
Two swimmable beaches, five pools, four pickleball courts, an 18-hole mini-golf course, Hobie cats, kayaks, paddleboards, and windsurfing — The Verandah Antigua packs more land and water activity into its 30-acre grounds than most Caribbean all-inclusives twice its size. The watersports program at Lover's Beach in particular is the property's clearest point of differentiation: calm, reef-sheltered coves make snorkeling and non-motorized sailing genuinely practical here, not just a marketing line.
The resort is aimed squarely at adults (16+) who want activity and variety without the chaos of a mega-resort. Couples dominate, but small groups of friends work well here too — the villa category with two bedrooms and a full kitchen handles groups easily. Anyone wanting a lively poolside scene, structured entertainment throughout the day, and a reliable social atmosphere will be comfortable. Guests seeking ultra-quiet exclusivity will find the 186-suite scale slightly busy, particularly around the main pool at peak season.
The honest friction point is the resort levy: a US$24 per room per night Resort Fee plus a US$5 per person Tourism Guest Levy (16+) are collected on-site and not always clearly flagged at booking. Budget for these on a 7-night stay before you finalize your rate comparison. Also worth noting: housekeeping runs every other day, which matters for towel management on beach-heavy trips.
Practically: 186 suites and villas across a village-style, single-story layout on Antigua's northeast coast in Willikies. V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU) is about 30 minutes by car. All-inclusive covers dining at 6 restaurants plus 6 bars, unlimited beverages, and the full watersports and activity menu. The surcharge exception is Nicole's fine dining restaurant ($50 per person). Two-bedroom villas sleep up to 5 and include a full kitchen — the plunge-pool villa version adds panoramic ocean views and a private pool on the terrace.
Best season is December through April for settled trade winds and calm seas at Lover's Beach. The adjacent Devil's Bridge National Park is a 10-minute walk and worth an evening stroll — the natural limestone arch and blowhole are most dramatic at high tide.
