Sunscape Dorado Pacifico's main advantage in Ixtapa is its size. At 285 rooms in an 11-story tower format, it is considerably more manageable than the mega-resorts in Cancún or Punta Cana — you can cross the entire property in a few minutes, and staff learn your name and order within the first day or two. That personalized feel is the most frequently cited reason guests return.
This property works best for families who want structured kids' programming and a Pacific beach without the overwhelming scale of a 1,000-room resort. The Explorer's Club (ages 3–12) runs 9 AM–9:30 PM and has strong reviews. Couples who want quiet adults-only dining or poolside time may find the family energy a mismatch. The closest adults-only Ixtapa option for comparison is the Garza Blanca.
Food is the most polarizing aspect of the stay. The Italian restaurant Da Mario (adults-only) consistently gets the strongest reviews. The buffet at Windows gets mixed marks for variety. Guest reviews range from 'delicious' to 'a bit below average' — the range is wide enough to manage expectations. Dining here is better than average for an Ixtapa all-inclusive but not a destination in itself.
285 rooms, opened as Dorado Pacifico in 1982, converted to all-inclusive format in 2011, with Sun Club rooms remodeled in January 2024. Located directly on Playa del Palmar's golden sand. 20 minutes from Ixtapa Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH). Ixtapa town is walkable — shops, restaurants, and additional attractions are within reach without a car or taxi.
